Film style icon: Cher Horowitz

One of the biggest film style icons from the ’90s is without a doubt Cher Horowitz from Clueless (1995). Cher is the queen of plaid; most of the outfits I have chosen involves plaid. She wears a lot of bold colours, but she also looks great in a more neutral colour scheme. If you’re all about that ’90s fashion, Cher is the one to look to for inspiration.

Cher’s yellow plaid outfit is probably the most iconic look from the film. I personally can’t pull-off yellow, but I still think this outfit is fantastic. Cher’s best friend Dionne is also a style icon, and Cher and Dionne look great in their matching plaid outfits.

I think I like Cher’s red plaid outfit even more than her yellow one. I love the oversized coat and the beret.

Another oversized jacket and mini skirt combo. Even when she goes shopping she’s put-together.

The bottoms of the sleeves on this cardigan are incredible! The colour scheme of this look is very muted, which gives it a more girly vibe compared to the previous outfits.

This all red look is amazing! The simple red dress paired with the fabulous jacket/coat is perfect. A little too much maybe, but it’s so Cher.

5 favourites – August

I can’t believe that the last summer month will be over by tomorrow. We have had varied weather in Denmark this past month, but with a nice summer day here and there. I don’t mind that autumn is approaching though; that just means that we are getting closer to December and Christmas! But we still have a couple of autumn months to go through, and also a couple more favourites posts, so let’s start with some August favourites.

Lyseblå oversized denim jakke - H&M

Denim jacket: I’ve been loving this denim jacket since I started wearing it in the end of July. It goes with pretty much any outfit, and it’s been the perfect jacket for the warmer days we’ve had this past month.

Gosh neglelak i Sweet Rose

Gosh nail varnish (shade: 589 Sweet Rose): In the beginning of the month I wore this pink nail varnish two weeks in a row, and I absolutely loved it. I also wore pink nails another week this month, so I guess I’ve just been really into pink nails.

Bodum Travel Mug

Bodum travel mug: My birthday was in August and one of the things I got for my birthday was this travel mug. I had done some research on travel mugs (I knew I was going to spend a lot of time at uni writing my thesis), and this one was supposed to be one of the best ones, and it really is. It’s not leaking the slightest and it keeps the coffee warm for ages.

Newgirl

New Girl (TV series): I had thought about watching New Girl for a while, and I finally decided to give it a go in the beginning of the month, and I got hooked instantly. I finished the fifth season yesterday, and I’m really sad that there are no more seasons on Netflix at the moment. I don’t even know how to begin describing this show, but it’s so sweet and funny, and I absolutely love the characters. Every single one of them. So if you haven’t watched New Girl and you love sit coms, you should definitely give it shot.

It’s Time – Michael Bublé (album): Another birthday present I’ve been loving this month is this Michael Bublé album. I’ve been listening to it countless times, and it just makes me happy. I love all the songs on the album, and here’s just one of my favourites.

Film style icon: Carrie Bradshaw

I’ve decided to only include films and not TV series in this series of posts, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t include a stylish lady who appeared in both. Sex and the City is my second favourite TV series (right after Friends), and even though all four women are style icons, Carrie Bradshaw is the biggest fashionista of them all. She is the most inspiring when it comes to style in my opinion, and even though she rocked some incredible outfits in the TV series, I’m only going to include outfits from the films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010). I’m not sure which outfits are from which film, I’ve just chosen a few of my favourites.

The white dress with the huge flower is a classic Carrie outfit. It’s not the easiest dress to pull off, but she does it, and she looks great.

This outfit is one of my absolute favourites. I love the colour combination, and this is an outfit I would love to wear myself.

80367978On the Set Of Sex And The City The Movie

Another absolute favourite of mine. I love a good suit look, and that pink striped shirt with the white trousers and waistcoat is incredible.

Even with a more casual outfit, Miss Bradshaw wears a pair of insane heels. I love the light blue jeans, and her hair looks amazing.

It probably comes as no surprise that I love this pink dress (which has pockets!). I love the rather simple styling, and it reminds me that I should start wearing my long pearl necklace again.

Cute socks

Fishnet strømperGlitter strømper

Most people might not think of socks as anything other than things to keep their feet warm, but I think socks are great for adding a little something extra to an outfit. Fishnets are everywhere at the moment and I recently posted a look with bright pink ones, and when I saw these navy blue and blush pink ones, I thought I would give those a go as well. Glitter socks are also very popular and easy to find, so I bought a black pair and a light grey pair. I would love to get my hands on some pink ones as well.

Film style icon: Andie Walsh

Next in my ‘film style icon’ series, I would like to share my love for Pretty in Pink’s (1986) Andie Walsh. If you are into second hand clothes, Andie Walsh’s style is truly inspirational. It was really difficult to find good pictures of her outfits, but you’ll still be able to get an idea of how inspiring and stylish she is.

pretty in pink 53andie-walsh-costume-3

Andie Walsh is the essence of granny chic, which shows in most of her outfits. She is very fond of floral prints, cardigans and waistcoats, and cute accessories such as hats and dangly earrings. Her best friend, Duckie Dale, is a great style inspiration as well.

She is also the queen of pastel colours (especially pink, of course).

Her attention to detail is incredible. Some might think her outfits are a bit much, but I believe that more is more.

PIPb87db629ab51698d4597829e0c6ef926

Her last outfit in the film is the iconic homemade prom dress. The dress really stands out among the other dresses at the prom, and it’s so Andie. It even has a modern twist to it with the high neck and off the shoulder style.

5 favourites – July

Today is the last day of my summer holidays, which is sad on the one hand, but on the other hand I’m excited to start working on my thesis. The past month was very relaxing compared to the previous months, and it was just what I needed. I’m looking forward to blog more consistently again, but I have to admit that it was nice spending a little less time on the internet. Before we enter the last official month of summer, here’s some of my favourite things from the month of July.

sorte-culottes-hm

Black culottes: We’ve had varying weather in Denmark this past month and not a lot of really hot days, but these culottes have been great for the warm days. The styling possibilities are endless, and I took pictures of a couple of outfits with these that I’ll be posting at some point.

Lush Honey Kiss lip scrub

Lush Honey Kiss lip scrub: My sister bought me this on a trip to Italy a few months ago, and I really like it. When you wear lipstick on a daily basis like I do, you need to take care of your lips, and a lip scrub is the way to go. There are definitely cheaper alternatives, and you can also make your own lip scrub, but if you want to treat your lips, this is a great option.

DSC_5519

Small black shoulder bag: I think I’ve had this bag for a few years now, and it is my go-to party bag. The reason why I’m featuring it in this month’s favourites is because I wore at a graduation party, out clubbing, and at a wedding, which shows how versatile it is.

DSC_1833

Cat-eye sunglasses: These has been my go-to sunglasses this past month. Big, cat-eye sunglasses reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, and who doesn’t want to feel even the slightest like Miss Hepburn.

Audrey Style

Audrey Style – Pamela Clarke Keogh: Speaking of Audrey Hepburn, my summer read this year was this lovely book about (as the title suggests) Audrey’s style. Even though it was mainly about her fashion, it connected it to her life story, and it was overall a very enjoyable book.

5 favourites – June

June has definitely been the toughest month for me this year so far. I’ve had a lot of exams and some very difficult ones, but they all went well, and now I’m going to enjoy my summer holidays before I start writing my thesis in August. Therefore, my blogging will be inconsistent the next month, but I’ll try to post as often as possible. I wish you all an amazing summer, and here’s some favourites from the month of June.

lysebla-ankel-flare-jeans-hm

Kick flare jeans: When I bought these jeans, I didn’t expect to love them as much as I do. I think they make an outfit look way more interesting, and they remind me a bit of the 70’s, which is awesome. I love that they can be styled in so many different ways. I’m wearing them here and here.

DSC_1827

Silver choker with pendants: This dainty silver choker has been one of my most worn necklaces this past month. I’ve been layering it with my Stegosaurus necklace, and I think they look great together.

Pukka Peppermint and Licorice 1

Pukka peppermint & licorice tea: I love tea, and liquorice is one of my favourites. This is quite an expensive tea brand (my mum gave it to me), but it really is good, and I love the combination of peppermint and liquorice.

how-i-met-your-mother-banner

How I Met Your Mother (TV series): I finally decided to watch HIMYM in the beginning of the month, and I got hooked instantly. I watched all 9 seasons (it was pretty much all I did in the evenings after I was done studying for the day), and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely rewatch this series some time.

Nem Eu – Salvador Sobral: My obsession with Salvador Sobral’s music continued throughout the month of June, and this song is just as beautiful as his Eurovision song. I still don’t understand a single word, but it still manages to move me, and I think it’s incredible when music can do that.

Film style icon: Holly Golightly

I’d like to start a series of posts about style icons from films. Watching films is one of my favourite pastimes, and I love being inspired by film fashion. I’ll start this series with the leading lady from one of my absolute favourite films; Holly Golightly (played by my favourite actress Audrey Hepburn) from Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).

Audrey-Hepburns-style-in-Breakfast-at-Tiffanys-2breakfast-at-tiffanys-black-evening-dress-back-view

The most iconic Holly Golightly outfit is of course her little black dress paired with pearls, gloves, and big sun glasses. She made the LBD a wardrobe stable for most women, and I myself have been inspired by this look and worn a similar outfit at numerous costumes parties (here’s some pictures from the last time I dressed up as Miss Golightly).

10525661_843060015717595_6512293846698637468_n10562963_843059959050934_8578985267732551373_n

One of my favourite Holly looks is this amazing all pink one. Even though we see Holly in a lot of neutral colours, she wears a couple of colourful outfits that are just stunning. This outfit speaks to me for several reasons, but the main reason why I love it is because of the colour (you probably know by now that I love pink).

behind-scenes-breakfast-at-tiffanys-9348261-2400-2399

Another colourful Holly Golighty outfit consists of this amazing orange coat paired with black and dark brown accessories. This look is very simple, but incredibly stylish.

91b8fbc67de1473a0abc5cf9fd6863b0

Holly Golightly is not only inspiring when she’s all dressed up; this casual polo neck and black trousers combo is timeless.

Audrey-Hepburns-costumes-in-Breakfast-at-Tiffanys-16Audrey-Hepburns-style-in-Breakfast-at-Tiffanys-16

The little black dress is not the only classic clothing item displayed in Breakfast at Tiffany’s; Holly Golightly rocked the beige trenchcoat as well. I used to wear my beige trenchcoat a lot, and now I really want to start wearing again.

5 favourites – May

By tomorrow it’ll officially be summer. Last week felt like summer in Denmark, but right now it’s windy and rainy outside. May was yet another busy month; the exam period started and I had a big choir concert last week. June will continue to be all about exams, but it is nice to know that this is my last exam period, because I’m going to write my master’s thesis next semester. Even though I’ve been busy this month, I still had a lot of favourites, and here’s five of them.

dsc_1422

Adidas Superstar 80s Primeknit sneakers: I bought these sneakers in a Black Friday sale last year, but because of the light knitted material and the cold Danish weather, I haven’t been able to wear until this spring. I’ve especially worn then a lot this past month, and I simply think they are awesome.

DSC_2557

Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Eclipse: You probably know by now how much I love the Jeffree Star Skin Frosts, and this limited edition shade made in collaboration with Manny MUA is gorgeous. If Ice Cold and Peach Goddess had a baby, Eclipse would be it.

DSC_2621

Homemade iced coffee: As I mentioned, I’m in the middle of the exam period, so I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee. In the beginning of the month, I decided to try to make my own iced coffee, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s really easy to make (it’s just coffee, a bit of sugar, milk, and ice cubes) and it tastes so good.

riverdale

Riverdale (TV series): I know I’m a little late to the party when it comes to this Netflix Original series, but better late than never. I didn’t really know what to expect (I don’t know much about Archie Comics), but I was extremely pleasantly surprised. I love crime solving series and some high school/love drama. Actually, I enjoyed this series so much that I watched it twice this month. I can’t wait for season 2!

Amar pelos Dois – Salvador Sobral: I love the Eurovision Song Contest, and I’ve watched it every year since I was little. I don’t always like the winning song, but this year my absolute favourite won. This is one of the most beautiful and moving songs, I’ve ever listened to and my favourite Eurovision winner of all time. Even though I don’t understand a single word (it’s in Portuguese) and still feel every single word, and I’ve been listening to this song on repeat ever since it won the contest. Please, take a few minutes and listen to this song if you haven’t already.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner

DSC_2361

When you are doing your make-up for a night out, it’s nice to do a little extra, and glitter is a great way of doing that. The thing about loose glitter is that it goes everywhere, and as much as I love glitter, I don’t want it all over my face. I had seen several youtubers use the Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliners on their eyelids, and it looked so quick and easy, so I decided to try it out. I bought the silver one which is called Glam Rock, and it works perfectly. I really want the rest of the colours now!
