5 favourites – February

February has come to an end, and I can almost smell that spring is on its way. February was another month in lock down, and even though the country will slowly be opening a little more up from tomorrow on, I still won’t be going physically back to work for while. So, I’ll continue to work from home (which is not easier or more relaxing when you are a teacher), and when I’m not working I get to watch a bunch of films and TV series, play The Sims 4, and play with make-up (and discover great new products). So it’s not all bad. Anyways, here are my 5 favourites from February.

Essence Volume Booster lash primer: I haven’t hauled this lash primer yet, but I’ve been using a lot, so I wanted to feature it in this post. I’ve been using it with the Fenty Beauty Full Frontal mascara that I did a first impressions post on recently, and I think it definitely adds some volume to my lashes that I think the Fenty Beauty mascara lacks a bit. It’s a super affordable lash primer as well, and I think Essence is doing such a great job with their products in general.

MAC Powderkiss lipsticks: I haven’t even posted a look with one of the MAC Powderkiss lipsticks yet, but they’ll be coming soon, and many of them, because I’ve been loving this lipstick formula. They have a very unique soft matte finish that I really like. They just look so flattering on the lips.

Huda Beauty Silk Balms: On the days where I don’t wear make-up, I always wear lip balm to moisturise my lips, and my favourite lip balms these days are the Huda Beauty Silk Balms. This is a limited edition holiday set with two glittery shades, which is a bit strange for a lip balm, but I really enjoy the formula, so I don’t mind the glitter. I’m sure they would make great, very moisturising lip toppers as well.

WandaVision (Tv series): I’m a big MCU fan, so I was excited to watch WandaVision when it came to Disney+. I’m not completely sure what I expected of this show, but it’s definitely different and in the best way possible. I was very confused throughout the first couple of episodes, and I have new questions after each new episode, but that’s what makes this show so interesting. If you’re a Marvel fan and haven’t gotten around to watch WandaVision yet, you really should.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (TV series): Here’s a series that I really didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I do. It’s my boyfriend’s favourite TV series, and I had promised him that I would watch the first episode with him, and here we are; two seasons in, and I’m really excited to watch the third and final season. Now I get why this is such a well-loved series.

Holiday make-up after the holidays

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I used the Too Faced Cinnamon Bear Eye & Cheek palette (from one of Too Faced 2020 holiday sets) for the first time, and the shades have this nice soft look to them. I also wore a lipstick from a holiday set, namely the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip paint in Unmatched, and it’s so pretty!

Post Christmas

Here’s what I wore Monday January 4. I’m finally done posting looks from last year, and it’s now time to post more recent looks. I know that this jumper might be considered a Christmas jumper to some, but you’ve seen the crazy Christmas jumpers that I wear, so this is more of a winter jumper to me.

(Headband + jumper + jeans – H&M, boots – Monki)

H&M post Christmas/January sale haul

I think I have two more post Christmas/January sale hauls to share with you; a Zalando one and this H&M one.

Let’s start with this fabulous coat. I rarely use the word fabulous, but that’s what this lilac faux fur trimmed coat is. I really want to wear this with my lilac wide leg trousers and a pair of lilac boots I have yet to show you.

I’m really into sequins and everything sparkly at the moment, and I’ve already worn this shirt a couple of times. It’s such a fun piece that can be dressed up or down.

Sticking with sparkles, I’ve also purchased this glittery roll neck top. The perfect piece for adding some sparkles to an everyday look.

My love for these fitted roll neck tops from H&M lives on. This floral one is the latest edition. They’re the perfect layering pieces.

I don’t own many cropped things, but I just loved the colour of this jumper, and I thought it would look really cute with high waisted jeans or a high waist midi skirt.

Remember this Fantasia print? I bought the bucket hat in this print from the men’s section, and I thought it would be fun to have the matching shirt. I also kind of want the puffer jacket in this print.

I’m not much of a (faux) leather person, but there was something about this brown faux leather midi skirt that I liked. I think it would look really good styled with the blue cropped jumper.

The only accessory I purchased in the H&M sale was this silver chain belt with pearls. I just thought it would add a nice little touch to an outfit.

The very last item in this haul is actually a make-up product. The only make-up I’ve tried from H&M is one of the lipstick formulas, and that was a long time ago, but I thought I would give this silver glitter liner/mascara a go.

Open the door

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I used the Revolution x Friends Open The Door shadow palette for my eye look, and I’m actually liking this palette more than I thought I would. I also used the palette for this look, and as you can see it’s very versatile.

Teal and lilac eyes

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I don’t remember creating a teal and lilac eye look before this day, but I really like the colour combo, and as you saw in my last mascara first impressions post, I’ve worn the colour combo on my eyes again since.

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. First impressions: Fenty Beauty Full Frontal mascara

I’ve already tested another mascara. It’s the Fenty Beauty Full Frontal – Volume, Lift & Curl mascara, and here are my first impressions.

The mascara has a rather strange flat brush which is quite difficult to use in my opinion. The product claims to give your lashes volume, a lift, and curl them. I feel that it gives your lashes more length than volume, and my lashes are naturally very curled, so I’m not the one to tell if the claim of curl is true or not. I applied that mascara at around 7.15 in the morning and wore it all day, and there was less to none transfer to the browbones which is rare for me, so that’s a big plus. The product I got on my eyelids and undereyes during application was easy to remove without ruining my eyeshadow. However, it was not the easiest mascara to remove with my regular eye make-up remover at the end of the day, but it was not super difficult either; it just took a bit more work. So, I have mixed feelings about this mascara. I don’t like the wand/brush, but I do like that it barely transfers. I also thinks it looks very nice on the lashes, but I would have loved a bit more volume. Since I did my first impressions test, I’ve worn it with a lash primer underneath, and that does seem help on the volume front. Considered the price point and the fact that there are so many great mascaras at the drugstore, I probably wouldn’t repurchase this mascara, but I don’t hate it.

Princess pinky reds

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I went with pinky reds to match the make-up of the Disney princesses on my sweatshirt. It’s a little silly, I know, but fun nonetheless.
