5 favourites – April

We are now moving in to the last spring month, but where is that spring weather??? It’s still really cold in Denmark though a bit more sunny, but I’m longing for real spring weather so bad! But on a more positive note, I’m enjoying a five day break/holiday right now (including the weekend), and it was just what I needed after another busy month workwise. So let’s talk about some of my favourites from the month of April, before I go back to doing absolutely nothing:)

Holographic rhinestone belt bag: My black Mickey Mouse shoulder bag that I used as an everyday bag broke earlier on this month, so I had to find a new everyday bag and chose this fun holographic rhinestone belt bag from Skinnydip, which I did use a bit last summer. I really enjoy having a belt bag as my everyday bag again (it’s so convenient), and this one just makes me happy (the picture really doesn’t do it justice btw, but I’m wearing it here and here).

Natasha Denona (brand): My biggest obsession this past month (and I actually think it started last month) has been Natasha Denona. It’s been a beauty brand that I’ve been intrigued by for such a long time, but it’s a bit of a pricey brand, so I kept my distance for a while, but I recently caved and bought my first palette, and now I’m obsessed. You’ll be seeing a bunch of Natasha Denona products in hauls in the nearest future.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High mascara: I did a first impressions on this mascara five days ago, and as I wrote in that post, I’ve really been enjoying this mascara. I feel like I’m on a roll when it comes to finding new great mascaras.

Soda #wowbrow Flat Brow Liner (shade: Kim): This is another product I haven’t hauled yet, but I’ve been using this a lot lately, and I really like it, so I wanted to feature it in my 5 favourites post. Soda is a newer brand to Beauty Bay, and I’ve also purchased some other products from the brand, but this brow pencil, or brow liner as it’s called, has been my most worn Soda product so far. It’s so easy to use!

Ikea Alex 9 drawer: I’m very late to the game when it comes to using the Ikea Alex 9 drawer for make-up storage, but it just fits perfectly in the corner of my bedroom, and I was in desperate need of more make-up storage (before I only had the little wooden drawer!). It’s just so practical, I holds a lot of make-up, and it doesn’t take up too much space, so I love it.

Monochromatic navy

Here’s what I wore Friday February 5. Even though I love outfits with lots of colours, I’m really into this monochromatic navy outfit. I also love how long these jeans make my legs look.

I’m on fire!

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I wore the whole Essence MY POWER IS Fire collection, and my favourite product so far is definitely the lipstick; I love the formula, the finish, and the colour.

First impressions: Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High mascara

It’s time for a first impressions post on the super popular Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High mascara. I wanted to see for myself if it is as good as everyone says.

The mascara has a very bendy, plastic wand with short bristles. I usually don’t prefer a plastic wand, but this one made it very easy to grap and coat every lash. It made my lashes look long but not too voluminous after the first coat, but when I applied the second coat I achieved a bit more volume, and I think my lashes looked great. I used a spoolie to remove the mascara marks I got on my eyelids and underneath my eyes, and it was not the easiest product to remove, but I made it work. After a few hours of wear I did see a little transfer to my browbones/top of my eyelids, but that is not uncommon to me and it really was minimal. I wore the mascara for just over 12 hours, and I didn’t see any further transfer or flaking throughout the day. I removed the mascara with regular eye make-up remover, and it was not the easiest mascara to remove. It takes a bit more work to get all the product off, but it’s not a deal breaker to me, because I really enjoy this mascara otherwise. I guess, I see why it went viral.

Hot Jalapeño

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. Of all the e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows I’ve tried so far, the Hot Jalapeño is definitely the most pigmented one (Truffles is a close second), and the colours are just stunning!

(Base: primer – Wet n Wild Prime Focus Primer Serum, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealers – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory) + Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser concealer (shade: 00 Ivory), powders – Essence Brighten Up! Banana powder in 10 Bababanana + Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying powder in 021 Transparent. Face make-up: bronzer – Maybelline City Bronzer in 100 Light Cool, blusher – Milani baked powder blush in 05 Luminoso, highlighter – MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Essence eyeshadow in 05 Granny Pants + e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows in Hot Jalapeño (shades: all four) + MAC Nylon eyeshadow, mascaras – Essence Volume Booster lash primer + L’Oréal Air Volume Mega mascara, eyeliner – Jeffree Star Automatic eyeliner in Resting Rich Face. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: MAC Boldly Bare lip pencil + MAC Powder Kiss lipstick in Mull It Over)

Mix of colours and prints

Here’s what I wore Wednesday February 3. I love the mix of colours and prints in this outfit. I wasn’t sure if the pastel coloured jumper would go with the darker/brighter coloured skirt, but I think the two pieces look great together.

(Necklace – second hand, jumper – Zara, skirt – Monki, boots – Topshop)

Truffles

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m wearing the e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows in Truffles, and it’s such a sexy, mostly cool-toned neutral little quad. The quality of this one is great!

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – Essence Brighten Up! Banana powder in 10 Bababanana + Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying powder in 021 Transparent. Face make-up: bronzer – Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r – Instant Warmth bronzer (shade: Inda Sun), blusher – Essence The Blush in 30 Breathtaking, highlighter – Revolution Precious Glamour Illuminator in Million Dollars. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Essence eyeshadow in 05 Granny Pants + e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows in Truffles (shades: all four) + MAC Nylon eyeshadow, mascaras – Essence Volume Booster lash primer + Fenty Beauty Full Frontal – Volume, Lift & Curl mascara, eyeliner – NYX Slim eye pencil in Light Brown. Eyebrows: Essence Make Me Brow eyebrow gel mascara in 02 Browny Brows + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: Gosh Velvet Touch lipliner in 004 Simply Red + MAC Powder Kiss lipstick in Werk, Werk, Werk)

More hats

Here’s what I wore Tuesday February 2. For the past couple of years, I’ve mainly worn bucket hats and baker boy hats, and it wasn’t until I put this pork pie hat on my head that I found out how much I’ve missed wearing other types of hats, so be prepared to see more hats, and more types different hats, in the future.

(Hat + jeans – H&M, blazer – second hand, T-shirt – Daisy Street, boots – Raid)
