5 favourites – April

Another month has come to an end, and I can’t believe how quickly time flies by. I’m still enjoying my maternity leave, so I spend my days with my daughter, and it’s incredible to see her grow. We’re heading into the last month of spring, but I’m still longing for warmer spring weather. The days are longer and lighter, but it’s not particularly warm outside. Anyways, let’s talk about some of my favourite things from the month of April.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Holy Hydration! face cream: The past couple of years I’ve been a bit more interested in skincare and trying different products, and one product that is always a part of my daily skincare routine is a good moisturiser. At the moment, I’m using this one from e.l.f. and I’m really enjoying it. I got the fragrance free version, and I love the texture of the product. It has hyaluronic acid and peptide complex in it, which are ingredients I really like.

Tarte Sculpt Tape contour (shade: Cool Bronze): I’d heard great things about this contour wand, and that it’s supposed to be similar to the famous Charlotte Tilbury one. I haven’t tried the Charlotte Tilbury version yet, but I really like this Tarte one. It blends out so easily and looks really natural on the skin.

Colourpop custom face palette (pressed powders): Colourpop recently released a permanent line of pressed bronzer, pressed blushes, and pressed highlighters. You can buy them in individual cases or just in the pan so you can place them in an empty palette. As you can see, I did the latter. My palette contains one bronzer, three blushes, and two highlighters, and I travelled with this palette in the very beginning of the month, and it was the perfect travel face palette.

Maanesten earrings + necklace: I got this jewellery set for my birthday last year, and I’ve worn it a lot ever since, but especially this past month. The picture also shows a bracelet, but I’ve only been wearing the necklace and earrings, and I’ve been wearing those so often.

You (TV series): I watched the first season of You a few years ago, but it wasn’t until this past month that I finally decided to watch the rest, and I’m so glad I did. My two favourite seasons are season 2 and 3, and I’m excited for the 5th and final season, which I think will be released in 2024.

5 favourites – January

The first month of 2023 has come to an end. January always feels longer than the other months, and even though it felt like this one went by a little faster than usual now that I have a baby, it was still pretty long. February will probably be a bit more stressful, since me and my little family is moving in March, but I’m really looking forward to be moving into a bigger place. Anyways, it’s the last day of the month, which means that it’s time for my monthly 5 favourites.

Smashbox x Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (shade: Fair/Light): I’ve discovered two great correctors within the last six months. I use a corrector on my under eye area most times I do my make-up these days, and I really do see a difference. I know that this one has been a favourite among people even back when Becca was still it’s own brand, but I didn’t try it out until recently.

Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless bronzer (shade: Power Boost): I’ve heard so many beauty youtubers say that this cream bronzer is one of their absolute favourites, and I get why. I don’t think I’d go as far as saying that it’s my absolute favourite, but a favourite it sure is.

Morphe Continuous setting mist: This isn’t just a January favourite, this setting spray has been a favourite of mine for months, I’ve just forgotten to include it in a favourites post. It has the finest mist, and it’s just such a good setting spray.

MAC Fast Response Eye Cream: I love it when I receive a free gift with purchase that I end up really enjoying. That’s the case with this eye cream. I love the texture of it, and I think my under eyes look really good these days.

National Treasure: Edge of History (TV series): I like the National Treasure films despite disliking Nicolas Cage as an actor, so I thought that I would definitely give this series a watch. I’ve been watching it with my boyfriend, and we both really enjoy. I’m excited to see how it ends.

5 favourites – August

August was some month. The weather was so hot throughout most of the month, I had a birthday and Covid (at the same time might I add – not very fun), and I definitely started to feel the weight and tiredness of being in the third trimester of pregnancy. But thankfully, I only have two more work days left before my maternity leave begins, and I can’t wait! I’m really looking forward to slowing down in September, and I’m going to try to enjoy the last bit of my pregnancy. Even though August was tough in many ways, it also had some good moments, and I discovered a lot of favourites as well. As always, I did manage to narrow them down to five, so let’s talk about them.

Pastel coloured tie dye Teva sandals: I love my multicoloured Teva sandals that I purchased last year, so I decided to get another pair this summer, and I’ve loved these ones as well. Teva just makes such comfortable sandals!

Oden’s Eye SolmÃ¥ne II eyeshadow palette: I posted my first look using this palette yesterday, but there’ll be more looks to come, because I’ve really enjoyed using this palette. The colour story is so pretty, and the quality is great. I’m going to keep an eye on Oden’s Eye from now on.

Pat McGrath Labs Dark Star mascara: I’ve received a lot of mascara samples as free gifts with purchases, and it’s a great way of trying out new mascaras and especially more expensive ones. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been using this Pat McGrath one, and I love it! It’s too bad that it’s so darn expensive.

This Is Us (TV series): The one good thing that came out of me having Covid earlier this month was that I finally had time to start watching ‘This Is Us’, which is a series I’ve been wanting to watch for a while. I was intrigued from the very first episode, and I’m almost done with season two now. I’m really happy that there are six seasons in total, because I’m not done learning about the Pearsons.

Apple AirPods: I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be and AirPods person, but I got a pair for my birthday, and I’ve already used them a lot. I also think they’ll come in handy when the baby comes; wires and babies are probably not a great match.

5 favourites – July

Today is the last day of July, which is also the last day of my summer holiday. I had such a nice, relaxing and long summer holiday this year, which was perfect considered my current state:) And I only have to work for a month before my maternity leave begins. This month I have a mixed bag of favourites, so let’s talk about them.

Maternity denim shorts: At some point I’ll be posting a H&M MAMA haul, but I had to feature these denim shorts in this 5 favourites post. These are really comfy, and they’re the perfect length. I’ve worn these a lot on hot summer days.

Violet classic Crocs: I never thought that I would actually purchase and wear a pair of classic Crocs, but I love the sandal version, and now that I’m pregnant, they’re just so easy to slip in to when taking down the garbage or when going grocery shipping. And I love that you can customise them with all different kinds of Jibbitz. This pair is decked out with all different kinds of fun and colourful ones of course, and I think it looks so cute!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara: This is not a new product in the beauty world, and I remember people talking about it years ago, but I hadn’t tried it until early this month, and I really like it. It’s not the most volumising mascara, but it doesn’t transfer or smudge, which is such a big plus for me. I also think it looks really nice on the lashes.

Thor: Love and Thunder (film): My boyfriend and I are big MCU fans, so we went to watch the newest Thor film last week, and we both really enjoyed it. I think Christian Bale’s Gorr is one of the creepiest Marvel villains so far.

Floor fan: This last favourite might be a bit strange, but this floor fan has been a life saver on the hot summer days, we’ve had in Denmark in July. I’m not a huge fan of super warm weather anyways, but now that I’ve tried being pregnant in super warm weather, a floor fan is a necessity!

5 favourites – June

The first summer month has come to an end, and what a month it was. I’ve been working so much in June like most teachers do due to exams. And because I’ve been working so much this whole year actually I have an extra long summer holiday, which is so needed. Weatherwise it’s become summer in Denmark as well, which is lovely, however, some days (like today) are almost too hot. Anyways, we’re here to talk about favourites, and my June favourites are a mixed bag of things, so let’s talk about them.

Blue retro floral pleated trousers: It’ll still be quite a while before I get around to posting the haul including these trousers from Monki, but I’ve been loving them for the past couple of months (so not just in June), so I thought I would give them a shout out. They’re so comfortable, and I love their retro vibe.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Flawless Brightening concealer (shade: Fair 10 C): Here’s another product I haven’t hauled yet, but that I’ve been loving and using so much this past month. I remember not being sure about it in the beginning, but I’m like that with most products; the more I use them and get to know them, the more I usually love them. I typically don’t use this concealer alone, because it has a lighter coverage, but it’s a great brightening base.

MAC Boldly Bare lip pencil: I’ve had this lip pencil for a couple of years now, and it’s my go-to pinky nude lip pencil, but I’ve never featured it in a 5 favourites before, so I thought it was about time. I really like MAC lip pencil in generel though.

Jurassic World: Dominion (film): I’ve featured the previous two Jurassic World films in past 5 favourites posts, so now we come full circle. Was this the best film in the Jurassic World series, probably not, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I especially loved the references to previous Jurassic films, since the original Jurassic Park is my favourite film of all time.

Sun Lolly – Raspberry-Liquorice: My last favourite this month is an edible one. Warmer weather is ice cream and popsicles weather. Sun Lolly popsicles are very common in Denmark, and this month I discovered a new flavour, Raspberry-Liquorice, and both my boyfriend and I are obsessed. You might find that liquorice in a popsicle sounds strange, but it’s so good!

5 favourites – April

Am I the only one who thinks that 2022 is flying by so fast? I can’t believe that it’s the last day of April today, and that we’ll soon (hopefully) be heading into summer. The weather has been slightly warmer and more springlike these last couple of weeks, which is nice, but I’m so ready for warmer summery weather. But let’s talk about some favourites. Last month’s favourites post was make-up heavy and so is this month’s favourites as well (well, three out of five are beauty products), but I just love discovering great products. However, I also have a film and a TV series to share with you this month.

MAC Prep + Prime Lip: This is actually not a new discovery at all. I’ve loved this lip primer for a few years now, I think, and I thought it was about time that I would feature it in a favourites post. It’s the first step of my make-up routine, and I use it everytime I do my make-up.

L’Oréal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum (shade: 0,5-2 Very Light): It took me a while to get into skin tints, but this is by far my favourite one. It has light coverage, but not too light, which I love, so this is great for days where my skin is looking a little better and I don’t feel like I need a whole lot of coverage. The texture, colour, and finish are great too.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow setting powder: This is one of the newest products in my collection, which means that I haven’t hauled it yet. However, I had to feature it in this favourites post, because I fell in love with this powder instantly. It has this super pretty, subtle glow to it, but it also keeps your skin looking fresh and not oily or shiny all day.

Death on the Nile (2022 film): I really like murder mystery type films, and I enjoyed watching Murder on the Orient Express (2017 film), but the “sequel” that just came out was even better in my opinion. I loved the 1930’s aesthetic and the Egyptian setting, and the murder mystery itself was really good. Great cast too. I seriously didn’t recognise Russell Brand as Linus Windlesham.

Moon Knight (TV series): And speaking of Egypt, my last favourite this month also partly takes place in Egypt. I love the Marvel series that release on Disney+. I especially enjoyed WandaVision, which I featured in a favourites post last year, and I think I enjoy Moon Knight just as much. It’s so different and interesting, and I’m really excited about the last episode which comes out next week.

5 favourites – March

How has a quarter of the year already gone by?! Time just moves so fast. The calendar says spring, but so far we’ve only had one week of spring weather in Denmark (it snowed yesterday!). I’m really yearning for warmer weather, so hopefully we’ll get some more of that soon. My favourites from the first month of spring are make-up heavy, but I’m really excited about these products, so let’s talk about them.

Natasha Denona Pastel palette: Besides from the Circo Loco palette this is the most exciting palette Natasha Denona has released in my opinion. I love colourful eyeshadows, I love pastels and I love the ND formulas, so I’m really enjoying this palette. It’s just the perfect spring palette, isn’t it?

Catrice All Matt Shine Control Powder Healthy Look (shade: 100 Neutral Fresh Beige): I’ve loved this powder since I purchased it back in September, so I thought it was about time that I featured it in a favourites post. This powder has the prettiest natural glow to it (don’t be fooled by the “all matt” in the name). If you love the Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder, but want to try a much cheaper alternative, try this Catrice powder.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Putty bronzer (shade: Tan Lines): I think this is my most used bronzer in the month of March. I haven’t hauled it yet, but I had to share it with you, because it’s such a stunning, affordable cream bronzer, and it’s so easy to work with. It’s giving the Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle cream bronzer a run for it’s money.

Rms Beauty Living Luminizer: Here’s another product that I haven’t hauled yet, but that I’ve been obsessed with. This is the first cream highlighter that I’ve truely fallen in love with. It just looks so stunning on the skin.

West Side Story (2021 film): My last favourite is not a make-up product, but a film. I’ve never watched the original West Side Story, though I really want to, but maybe it was a good thing, because then I didn’t have anything to compare the 2021 version to. And I loved the 2021 version. I obviously knew the story and most of the songs, but it was just so well executed. I’m also a big fan of a lot of Steven Spielberg’s work, which might also be a reason why I liked this film.

5 favourites – February

February always go by so quickly. Probably due to the fact that it’s the shortest month, but also because I have a week long holiday in February, which is always lovely. February was a month of ups and downs, but the things in this post is definitely worth talking about, so let’s do just that.

NABLA Skin Bronzing (shade: Ambra): I haven’t hauled this bronzer yet, but I have featured it in a couple of make-up posts. This bronzer has a slight glow or sheen to it, and I’ve been really liking that in a bronzer. The shade of this is also beautiful.

Clinique Cheek Pop Pearl blushes: I love the original Clinique Cheek Pop blushes, but I think I might love the new pearl version even more. I first purchased the shade 05 Ruby Pop (top left corner), and I’ve worn that shade so much these past four months or so. Then I decided to pick up three more shades, and they’re just as stunning.

Essie nail lacquers: I always wear nail polish, and of course I’ve known about Essie, but I’d only tried a few polishes from the brand many years ago. However, recently I’ve been purchasing a handful of Essie nail lacquers, as they’re called, and I’ve been loving every single one. I don’t think I’ve worn another brand throughout February. My favourite shades have been the bright red called Bunches Of Love (I’m wearing that one right now, but I’ve also worn it before), the pink with a gold shift called One Way For One, and the super sparkly orange one called Cupid’s Beau.

Pam & Tommy (TV series): I have both a TV series favourite and a film favourite this month. Let’s start with the series. As soon as I first saw the posters for this series, I was intrigued. At first glance, I thought that Lily James was actually Pamela Anderson until I took at closer look. The costume designs of this series are incredible. I was born in the early 90’s so I don’t remember the incident with the tape, but I remember some of the 90’s in generel, and the mid-90’s are represented so well. I’ve also found it really interesting to learn about this incident and the lives of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee at this time, so I find this series to be an overall enjoyable watch.

Spiderman: No Way Home (film): I’m a huge Spiderman fan, so I’ve been wanting to watch this film ever since it released. However, the pandemic put a stop to that for a while, but I finally got to watch it during my holiday. If you love the previous Spiderman film series with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as much as I do, you’ll love this one.

5 favourites – January

It’s the last day of the first month of the new year. A bit crazy, right? I feels like it’s been a long month, but at the same time, I can’t believe that we’ll be in February by tomorrow. Workwise and pandemic wise it was a very tough month, and I have to say that I’m a little nervous about Denmark opening up the country completely and cancelling all restrictions tomorrow. But on a happier note, I had a lot of favourites this month, but as always I’ve narrowed them down to five. So here goes.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (shade: 1 fair): I have yet to haul this product, but I’ve been using it for a few months, and I’ve been especially in to it in January. I’ve only used it as a primer so far, and it gives the skin the mosts beautiful glow. I really like the doe foot applicator, and the luxurious feeling of the bottle, however there’s one thing I can’t stand about the packaging, and that is that the small red letters that make up the writing on the front and especially on the back they do not stick to the bottle, and they go everywhere! So whenever I use this product I’m stuggling to remove little red letters from my face. However, the product itself is so good that I just have to live with that.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Camo CC Cream (shade: Fair 120N): I just hauled this foundation the other day, and in that haul post I mentioned that it was my favourite product from that haul. This is a full coverage CC Cream, which might sound a bit strange, but it really does have amazing coverage, and the finish is beautiful. I’ve already purchased a back up of this foundation.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Touch concealer: I only think I’ve hauled one of these concealers, but I’ve actually purchased three different shades; 1, 3, and 4. I’m still not sure that any of these shades are my perfect shade, but I can use them all on one way or another, and the product is so good that I’m going to make use out of them. This is a full coverage concealer, and it blends out beautifully and looks great on the skin.

Clinique all about eyes: I have a skincare favourite this month as well. I got a free mini size Clinique all about eyes with a Sephora order a little while back, and I loved it so much that I purchased a full size (the picture). I’m still using the mini though, because a little product goes a long way, but it just softens the undereye area and reduces circles and puffs exactly as it says on the jar.

Eddie the Eagle (film): I watched several great new (to me) films this month, and it was really hard to pick my favourite, but I actually think the film I enjoyed watching the most was Eddie the Eagle. I’d been wanting to watch this film for so long, and this was the month I finally convinced my boyfriend to watch it with me, and as it turns out, he liked too. It’s just such an uplifting story, which is just what I needed this month, and I loved the performances of both Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman.

5 favourites – November

Yes! December is finally here. Well, by tomorrow it is. November just flew by, which I don’t mind, because I’m just waiting for December to arrive anyways. So let’s just jump right to it and talk about some favourites from the month of November.

Black Crocs sandals w. Christmas Jibbitz: I never thought that I would get myself a pair of Crocs, and I still don’t think that I would get a pair of original Crocs, but I really like this sandal version. This black pair which is now decorated with Christmas themed Jibbitz I wear as indoors slippers, and I think they’re adorable, super festive, and really comfortable.

Wet n Wild Prime & Set Prime Focus The Impossible Primer: I haven’t hauled most of the things in this haul including this primer from Wet n Wild. However, I really like this primer, so I had to feature it. It has the texture of a silicone based primer, but it’s silicone free. It feels cooling and soft on the skin and creates a great base for your foundation.

Catrice True Skin Hydrating foundation (shade: 004 Neutral Porcelain): Speaking of foundation, this Catrice foundation has been one of my go-to foundations lately. I first purchased it in another shade, but it was a little too light actually (I can make it work though), but this shade is perfect. I love the finish and coverage too. It’s just such a good and affordable foundation.

Wishful Honey Whip Peptide moisturizer: I also have a skincare favourite this month. I’ve heard great things about this moisturiser from Wishful, and I don’t know if it’s only due to this product, but my skin has looked a lot better lately; better than it has in a very long time. This is a mini, but I might get the full size at some point.

Dead Poets Society (film): I know, how can I not have watched this film until now? Trust me, I’ve been wanting to watch this classic for years. Now I finally have, and I loved it. Being a teacher myself, this film really got to me. It’s such an inspiring story and a beautiful film.
