Huge second hand haul: clothes

I’ve been doing a lot of second hand shopping lately, and I thought I would share my finds with you. I’m going to do a two part haul; this one is all about the clothes, and then I’m going to do a separate post on the accessories.

Brun, navy og grøn ternet oversized blazer - second hand

I’ve been looking for an oversized blazer, and this one is perfect! I love the colours and pattern, and the quality is great.

Sort velour jakke med blomstermønster i rød, lilla, grøn og guldglimmer - second hand

This jacket is a mix of things I love; velvet, beautiful colours, and shoulder pads.

Hvid og sort zebraprint fleece jakke - second hand

This is one of those very tacky items that I’m not quite sure if I love or not, but I buy them anyways, because I love a styling challenge, and I often end up really liking those items.

Rød argyle sweater m. navy og gråt mønster - second hand

This red argyle jumper is so nice. It looks like it’s never been worn, and I love the colours.

Khakigrøn sweater m. beige mønster - second hand

I found this khaki green jumper the same day as I found the red argyle one, and I just loved the pattern.

Sort og beige sweater m. guld detaljer - second hand

And I’ve found more great jumpers recently. How nice is this one! Once again I love the pattern, and I also love the button detail. And the quality seems really nice too.

Navy og cremefarvet sweater m. turkis detaljer - second hand

This jumper is from the same brand as the previous one, and how incredible is the colour combination on this one! I’m really excited about all these jumpers.

Beige og cremefarvet rullekravetrøje - second hand

I also found this beige roll neck number, which looks like something a guy would wear in the early to mid 2000s, and I really don’t mind that.

Hvid kortærmet skjorte m. lyserødt, blåt og grønt mønster - second hand

I’ve also bought two button up blouses/shirts which are probably more appropriate for warmer weather, but I just couldn’t leave them behind, so I’ll save them in my closet and wear them in a few months. I love the colours and pattern of this one, and it has shoulder pads as well, which is always a plus in my book.

Navy kortærmet skjorte m. hvide og røde blomster - second hand

The other button up blouse I’ve purchased recently is the navy one with the cutest daisy print.

Lyseblå højtaljet denim nederdal - second hand

I more often find tops than I find bottoms at second hand stores, but this time around I did find a skirt and a pair of trousers/jeans. I’m always looking for the perfect denim skirt, and this one comes very close. It’s high waisted, it’s pretty much the perfect length, and the light wash gives it a strong ’80s vibe which I’m all about.

Beige slangeprint bukser - second hand

The pair of trousers (or I guess they’re jeans) that I’ve purchased and the last item in this part of the haul are these snake print ones. I’m really into animal print at the moment and these fit me perfectly, so I had to buy them. I guess they’re slightly tacky, but they remind me of Coyote Ugly and I love that film, so I might take some inspiration from there when styling these trousers.

5 favourites – January

The first month of 2019 is now over, and I can sum it up in two words: work and freezing. Yes, pretty much all I did this month was work (and get a lot of use out of a couple of my Christmas presents which is featured in this favourites post), and it’s been freezing cold outside in Denmark (it actually snowed quite a bit today). I only have six more work days and then I have a week off, so I’m really looking forward to that. But anyways, let’s talk about some favourites.

DSC_6420

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny eye shadow palette: It’s no secret that I love Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and even though this was Jeffree’s second palette release, I didn’t buy it until recently. I’m so glad I finally did though, because I love this palette. The colours are stunning, and the pigmentation is fantastic. I can’t wait to create more gorgeous eye looks with this palette.

dsc_6740

Milani Strobe Light Instant Glow Powder (shade: Afterglow): I have another make-up favourite this month, and it’s this gorgeous highlighter. The shade is perfect, and the pigmentation is perfect. It has been my go-to highlighter the past couple of weeks, and I’ll definitely continue to use this.

natkingcole

A Portrait of Nat King Cole (album): I love Nat King Cole. He’s my favourite jazz musician/crooner. My favourite record is a Nat King Cole one, and this CD which I found at a second hand store between Christmas and New Year’s is also a favourite of mine. I’ve been listening to this CD on repeat this past month, and I’ll probably continue to do so.

thesims4seasons

The Sims 4 Seasons (computer game): I finally got this expansion pack (I got it for Christmas), so I’ve been playing The Sims 4 whenever I had the time. I’ve been playing The Sims games for the past 15 years or so, and I still absolutely love it.

chromecast

Google Chromecast: I don’t have any TV channels, so until this month I’ve been watching Netflix on my iPad, which is fine, but it’s nice to finally be able to watch TV series and films on a slightly bigger screen. I’ve also enjoyed watching YouTube videos on my TV though I still mostly watch those on my iPad (my iPad is my portable TV).

First impressions: Maybelline Superstay 24H Full Coverage Foundation

dsc_6682

I’d heard so many good things about this foundation, so I thought I would put it to the test. Here are my first impressions.

dsc_6795

This picture was taking right after I’d applied the foundation. I applied my go-to primer (Wet n Wild Coverall primer) to my skin first, because I wouldn’t wear foundation without priming my skin first. I’m wearing the lightest shade that’s available in Denmark (as far as I know) which is the shade 05 Light Beige. It has a pretty strong pink undertone, which I usually don’t go for in foundations, but the shade seemed to match me pretty well when I applied it. It applied it with a sponge which was really easy. The coverage and finish of this foundation are great, and overall it looked really good. Sadly, the foundation oxidised quite bit, which made the pink undertones stand out even more.

dsc_6814

I wore the foundation for 8 hours, and the picture above was taking right before I removed the foundation. I don’t think it looks too bad in these pictures, but in real life it had very clearly oxidised, so obviously the colour was off. Besides that, I was very impressed by the staying power, and considered the fact that I didn’t set the foundation with powder, my skin wasn’t that oily after 8 hours of wear (I was only a little oily on and around my nose). There was minimal creasing as well. Apart from the oxidation, the only other thing I didn’t like about this foundation was that it was very difficult to remove. I used micellar cleasing water which I always use to remove my make-up, and I had to use twice as many cotton rounds than usual to remove this foundation. Those are my only two cons, and even though I could live with the fact that it’s difficult to remove, I won’t wear a foundation that oxidises as much as this one does. If I at some point could get my hands on a lighter shade, I might give it another go.

First impressions: Essence Melted Chrome eyeshadow

dsc_6514

If often check out the make-up section at my local supermarket, and I was very intrigued by these Essence Melted Chrome eyeshadows, so I decided to try them out.

first impressions

They claim to be have a liquid chrome-effect, and they definitely do. I applied the eyeshadow with my finger, which was very easy, and it felt liquid to the touch. As you can see, it has nice pigmentation and it’s very shiny. In the pictures above, I’m wearing the middle shade, which is called 02 iconic, and as you can see, it looks a lot less gold on the eyes. It looks more champagne though it is still a pretty shade. It looked very nice all throughout the day, and it was very easy to remove (I used micellar water). All in all, this is a very nice affordable product that makes it easy to add glitter to an eye look without having a lot of fallout.

5 favourites – December

Christmas is over, tonight it’s New Year’s Eve, and at midnight a new year begins. 2019. How time flies! 2018 was a very eventful year for me. I got my master’s degree, I got my first ‘adult’ job (in only three days it’ll be my one year work anniversary), and I also moved into my first apartment. All in all, 2018 was a good year, and I’m excited to see what 2019 has to offer. But first I want to wish you all a happy and safe new year, and then let’s say goodbye to 2018 with some December favourites.

DSC_6615

Candy cane earrings: Based on my recent outfit posts, you have probably noticed that I’m very serious about festive dressing. I love my Christmas jumpers, and I love christmassy accessories to go with them. My favourite festive earrings have been these cute candy cane ones from the UK wepshop Lisa Angel.

Rød velour scrunchie

Red velvet scrunchie: I also like my hair to be festive, and this schruncie has been my go-to hair accessory. I’ll definitely continue to wear this in the new year as well.

The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane shower gel

The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane shower gel: I love the scent of peppermint and candy canes, and this shower gel smells incredible in my opinion. I’ve been using it nonstop throughout December, and it’s another favourite that I’ll continue to use in the new year.

Suits

Suits (TV series): Suits has been on the top of my ‘must watch’ list for a long time, and when I was ill with the flu in the beginning of December, I decided to finally start watching it. I’m almost done with season 3, and I can’t wait to watch more. It’s such a great show with handsome male leads:)

DSC_6383

My first Christmas tree: I got my very first Christmas tree this year, and you have no idea how much I’ve enjoyed decorating it and looking at it. I got some decorations from my grandfather and I’ve also bought some at different second hand stores, so I had a quite old fashioned Christmas tree, which is right up my alley.

Merry Christmas

DSC_6560DSC_6559

Merry Christmas! I hope you’re all having a lovely Christmas or whatever you may be celebrating. In Denmark we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, and this is what I wore last night. I thought this green dress was perfect for the occation, but sadly I tore a hole in it (without noticing it until late in the evening), so it’ll be my first and last time wearing this dress.

(Dress – VRS, heels – & Other Stories)

Christmas haul: clothes

It’s finally December 1, so it’s time for my annual Christmas clothing haul. I’m going to split it up into two parts; clothes (jumpers and T-shirts) and accessories (socks and jewellery etc.). Let’s start with clothes.

Rød sweater m. rensdyr, sne og musik - VRSRød sweater m. snemand og sne - VRS

Once again, some of the Danish chain supermarkets nailed their Christmas jumpers this year. I couldn’t choose between the reindeer and the snowman so I purchased both. The reindeer one plays Jingle Bells when you press it’s nose, and it’s just so cute. The snowman one has pom poms on it, and on the back of the jumper the snowman has melted and the whole text says ‘You are worth melting for’. I can’t wait to wear these!

Mørkeblå sweatshirt m. pallietguilander og julepynt - Only

If the two previous jumpers are a bit much for your taste, this navy sweatshirt with sequins from Only is a more toned down option. I love a bit of sparkle, and the details on this top are so nice.

Rød sweater m. julemænd, pakker, snemænd m.m. - H&M

H&M usually has a good selection of Christmas jumpers, and my favourite this year is this super festive red jumper. It has a lot of details, and I love the colours.

Grå sweater m. julemandshaj - H&M

I found this grey jumper at the boys’ section at H&M. I love the film ‘Jaws’, and I thought this jumper was a bit of fun.

Grå T-shirt m. rød metallic jinglebells - H&MHvid T-shirt m. Wham Last Christmas print - H&M

I told myself not to buy any Christmas T-shirts this year, because it’ll be to cold to wear a T-shirt on it’s own, but then I thought that I’d have to wear something underneath my jumpers, and it might as well be festive. Both of these T-shirts are from H&M. The first one is quite simple, but I liked the red metallic writing. Of course I had to have the Wham! one, because I love a graphic T-shirt (especially one with a pop culture reference), and I love ‘Last Christmas’ (but who doesn’t)! Stay tuned for the second part of my Christmas haul.

5 favourites – November

It’s the last day of November which means that my favourite month starts tomorrow. I’ve been waiting for December and Christmas for so long now, and I can’t wait! You’ll be seeing a lot of christmassy outfits and hauls on my blog in December, but before we get into that let’s talk about some of my favourite things from the month of November.

Brun pelsjakke - second hand

Brown faux fur coat: It’s gotten a lot colder outside, so I’ve been wearing my winter coats lately. My most worn coat this past month is this faux fur coat that my sister found years ago at a second hand store. It’s just so nice and snuggly.

Blå slim mom jeans m. Mickey Mouse print - H&M

Mickey Mouse jeans: These jeans are just awesome. The fit is great, and I love the Mickey Mouse print. I’m wearing them here and here.

Blå glimmer sock boots m. chunky hæl - Monki

Blue glitter boots: This style of boot from Monki is so good! Last month I featured the checked version of these in my 5 favourites, and I love these blue glitter ones just as much.

Lilla hue

Purple beanie: I find it difficult to find the perfect beanie, but I think I might have found it in this purple Monki one. It fits well, and the colour is stunning.

elf HD undereye setting powder

e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer: I’ve never been a huge fan of loose powders (maybe I just don’t know how to use them properly), but I’ve really enjoyed using this undereye setting powder from e.l.f. It doesn’t feel cakey or dry on the skin, and it keeps my concealer crease-free all day. And it’s affordable too.

Jeffree Star Velour lip liners

DSC_6126

It’s been about a month since Jeffree Star launched his Velour lip liners, so you probably know all about them, but I wanted to do a quick post on them anyways. Jeffree Star Cosmetics is one of my absolute favourite make-up brands, and the Velour liquid lipsticks are my favourite lipsticks, so I was quite excited about this launch. Jeffree Star made 17 shades corresponding to shades from his Velour liquid lipstick range, and I decided to get 5 of my favourite shades. The shades I’ve purchased are (from the top) Anna Nicole, Redrum, Calabasas, Celebrity Skin, and Leo. The lip liners claim to be creamy, long-lasting, and to have extreme payoff, and all three things are true. They are creamy, but not too soft, and they are long-lasting and really pigmented. I’m excited to see if Jeffree Star releases more shades in the future.

5 favourites – October

We are approaching the last official month of autumn, and the Danish weather has definitely been autumnal lately. Even wintery as it snowed last weekend. We sure are getting closer to December and Christmas, and Christmassy things have started to show up at most stores. You can probably imagine how excited I am! I have already started to collect some bits for my upcoming Christmas clothing haul. But we still have one month to go, and before November begins, let’s talk about some October favourites.

Beige og brun ternede støvler m. chunky hæl - Monki

Checked boots: I’m so happy that I bought these checked boots from Monki. They are so comfortable, and they’re are in the perfect autumn colours. I’ve already worn them quite a bit, but I know that I’ll get a lot more use out of them.

DSC_6024

L’Oréal Paradise Extatic mascara: When I did my first impressions post on this mascara, I mentioned how this is the best mascara I’ve tried other than my favourite one, Maybelline The Falsies. I’ve worn this mascara all month, and I still really enjoy using it.

Laura Geller highlighter duo 1

Laura Geller baked highlighter in French Vanilla (the shade on the left): I’ve heard lots of Youtubers talk about this highlighter. I usually go for a more intense highlighter, but French Vanilla is such a gorgeous more natural highlighter that still gives your skin the most beautiful glow.

elf

Elf (film): I’ve watched so many films this past month, and a lot of them I hadn’t watched before. I loved most of the films I watched, but I couldn’t feature all them in this post, so I narrowed them down to my two favourites. The first one is a classic Christmas film; Elf. Considered how much I love Christmas, it’s strange that I hadn’t watched this one until earlier this month. I guess I hadn’t watched it because I don’t particularly like Will Ferrell, but there’s a reason why Elf is a classic. I loved it, and I’ll definitely rewatch it.

diehard

Die Hard (film): My other favourite film I’ve watched this past month is another (Christmas) classic. And again, I see why this is a classic. It’s simply a great action film. I also watched the second one, and I’m really looking forward to watch the rest of this film series.
