Comparison: affordable eyelid primers

til blog

I mentioned when I bought the e.l.f. Eyelid Primer that I would do a comparison of it to another affordable eyelid primer, the other eyelid primer being the MUA Pro-Base Eye Primer. Both products are very affordable (the MUA one is £ 2,50 and the e.l.f. one is £1,95). I’ve had the MUA primer for quite a while and I initially didn’t like it and hadn’t used it in a while, so I thought I would compare to the e.l.f. primer. In the two pictures to the left I’m wearing the MUA primer as my base, and in the two pictures to the right I’m wearing the e.l.f. primer as my base. On top I’m wearing my The Body Shop Eye Colour in 07. When I first applied the primers and eye shadow to my eyelids they looked quite similar as you can see in the top pictures, but then after approximately 8 hours you can definitely see a difference. The MUA primer creased and the eye shadow looked uneven whereas the eye shadow on the eye where I used the e.l.f. primer looked pretty much the same as when I first applied the product. After comparing the two, I still don’t like the MUA primer, and I was very impressed by the e.l.f. one + it’s a tiny bit cheaper, so I would definitely go for that one! I got the e.l.f. eyelid primer in the colour Sheer, but it comes in three more colours as well; Pearl, Champagne, and Golden.

I really enjoyed making this type of post, so I might do some more comparisons of products in the future:)

A month behind

DSC_5378DSC_5379rediDSC_5380redi

It’s February 1 and I’m posting the first outfit I took pictures of in January, so I’m still a month behind when it comes to posting outfits, but hopefully I’ll catch up at some point:) Anyways, I wore this simple outfit on Friday January 9. I actually matched my outfit to a specific eye shadow I wanted to wear that day. I’ll post the make-up look later on today or tomorrow.

5 favourites – January

I can’t believe that the first month of 2015 is over by tomorrow. It was a tough month with exams, and this week uni started again, but it was a good month as well. I just occured to me that I’ve been doing these 5 favourites posts for a whole year now, and I’m definitely going to continue doing them. So without further ado, here’s my first favourites of 2015.

DSC_5634

Maybelline Color Tattoo Gel-Cream Eyeshadow (colour: 35-On and on Bronze): I’m so glad that this Color Tattoo finally came to Denmark, because it’s gorgeous. It looks beautiful on its own, but it’s also a perfect base for bronze/gold/brown eye shadow looks.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer (colour: 02 Fair Matte): This bronzer is the perfect matte bronzer for fair skin. Especially for everyday use where you might not want a too heavily bronzed face. I would definitely recommend this stunning product.

Pernille Corydon gold leaf earrings: I’ve been wearing a lot of gold jewellery this month (to match my go-to eye make-up) and these earrings that I got for Christmas has been my favourites. I love how simple and pretty they are, and I’ve worn them so much.

Turbie Twist

Turbie Twist: I didn’t learn about the existence of the Turbie Twist until last Autumn, but I was definitely intrigued. Luckily, I got a two-pack on my gift advent calendar, and I think they’re genius. If any of you haven’t heard of the Turbie Twist, it’s a super-absorbent hair towel. I find it very lightweight and perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to wait for your hair to dry.

Kongens Have – TopGunn: I have a very different favourite song this month. I don’t listen to a lot of Danish music and especially not hip hop and dancehall. The reason I got to listen to this particular song was because the Danish rapper and producer Topgunn was to be one of the judges on Denmark’s Got Talent. I knew him by name, but I wasn’t very familiar with his music, so I went on to Youtube and listened to a bunch of his songs, and the only one that caught my attention (and which I did recognise) was Kongens Have. I find it quite different from his other songs which I’m not very fond of, but there’s something about this one that made me listen to it over and over again this past month. I think it’s the melody and I like the use of e.g. brass instruments.

Real Techniques is back

DSC_5373DSC_5375

I had no idea that Real Techniques had found its way to Denmark, but as soon as I found out I picked up the Miracle Complexion sponge and the Stippling brush. I love the Miracle Complexion sponge; I’ve used it to apply my foundation every single day since I bought it. I bought the Stippling brush, because I wanted to experiment more with cream blushers, and so far I like this brush as well. There’s a couple of more brushes that I would like to add to my collection, so I might pick those up some other time.

101 dalmatians

DSC_5535DSC_5537

I was serious when I wrote that I wanted to get back to doing more nail posts and get more creative in the nail department, but I thought I would start out with something easy. Like throwing a confetti top coat on top of a coloured nail polish. So easy, and really cute, I think. I didn’t even think about the fact that wearing this top coat on top of a white nail polish would make my nails look like dalmatians, but I don’t mind. The nail polishes I’m wearing are Nail Paint by Barry M in Matt White and L’Oréal Color Riche nail polish in Confettis.

Some e.l.f.

I still have two more Christmas presents to show you and one of them is this e.l.f. Studio blusher in the colour Mellow Mauve. I have one more Studio blusher, but I rarely use it, because there’s so much glitter in it, but that’s not the case with this one. It looks like it has a bit of shimmer in it, but it doesn’t really show up on the skin, and I really like the colour as well. The eye shadow brush and the eyelid primer are two recent purchases from the cheapest e.l.f. line. So far I’m really liking the brush; it’s great for placing eye shadow on the lid. I won’t say much about the eyelid primer just yet, because I’m going to make a separate post with a comparison of two affordable eyelid primers (this e.l.f. one being one of them), so stay tuned for that:)

Go-to bronze eye

DSC_5175

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. This is my go-to eye make-up at the moment and I love to pair it with either a berry lip (as in this picture) or a deep red lip.

(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Barry M Natural Glow Shadow & Blush palette (shades: 3 + 5 + 6) + Stila All Over Shimmer Duo highlighter (lightest shade on browbone), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Collection 2000 Kohl Eyeliner Precision Colour in 2 Brown. Lips: Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss in 360 Stellar Berry)

Back on the nail track

DSC_5403DSC_5404

I haven’t done a nail post in a long time which is mainly due to the fact that I haven’t got that many new nail polishes since I left England. Anyways, I do want to get more creative with my nails, but for now I just want to show you a new nail polish I got on my gift advent calendar in December. First I’ll apologise for the application; I tried to remove as much nail polish from the skin around my nails as possible, but I find it almost impossible to get it all off. But about the nail polish; it’s from the Danish make-up brand Nilens Jord and it’s no. 688. It’s a deep, metallic purple as you can see, and I love the colour. It reminds a bit of one of my favourite nail polish colours from H&M called Fabulous Nails, Honey, just a more purple version.

Second last

Here’s what I wore Tuesday November 25. I only have one more outfit + make-up look (+ the make-up look I wore with this outfit) from November to show you, and then I’ll start on the Demember looks. I’ve never been this behind with posting outfits etc. before, but hopefully I’ll catch up at some point:)

Chill New Year’s Eve

DSC_5316DSC_5319DSC_5321

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great time last night. Sadly I’m ill, so I had a very chill New Year’s Eve, but that’s actually okay, because I’m not very fond of New Year’s Eve anyways. The part I do like about New Year’s Eve is the dressing-up part. I was going to wear a different dress, but I decided to wear the one I’m wearing in the pictures instead, because it was a bit warmer. A make-up post will be on the blog later today.
