Next in my ‘film style icon’ series, I would like to share my love for Pretty in Pink’s (1986) Andie Walsh. If you are into second hand clothes, Andie Walsh’s style is truly inspirational. It was really difficult to find good pictures of her outfits, but you’ll still be able to get an idea of how inspiring and stylish she is.
Andie Walsh is the essence of granny chic, which shows in most of her outfits. She is very fond of floral prints, cardigans and waistcoats, and cute accessories such as hats and dangly earrings. Her best friend, Duckie Dale, is a great style inspiration as well.
She is also the queen of pastel colours (especially pink, of course).
Her attention to detail is incredible. Some might think her outfits are a bit much, but I believe that more is more.
Her last outfit in the film is the iconic homemade prom dress. The dress really stands out among the other dresses at the prom, and it’s so Andie. It even has a modern twist to it with the high neck and off the shoulder style.
June has definitely been the toughest month for me this year so far. I’ve had a lot of exams and some very difficult ones, but they all went well, and now I’m going to enjoy my summer holidays before I start writing my thesis in August. Therefore, my blogging will be inconsistent the next month, but I’ll try to post as often as possible. I wish you all an amazing summer, and here’s some favourites from the month of June.
Kick flare jeans: When I bought these jeans, I didn’t expect to love them as much as I do. I think they make an outfit look way more interesting, and they remind me a bit of the 70’s, which is awesome. I love that they can be styled in so many different ways. I’m wearing them here and here.
Silver choker with pendants: This dainty silver choker has been one of my most worn necklaces this past month. I’ve been layering it with my Stegosaurus necklace, and I think they look great together.
Pukka peppermint & licorice tea: I love tea, and liquorice is one of my favourites. This is quite an expensive tea brand (my mum gave it to me), but it really is good, and I love the combination of peppermint and liquorice.
How I Met Your Mother (TV series): I finally decided to watch HIMYM in the beginning of the month, and I got hooked instantly. I watched all 9 seasons (it was pretty much all I did in the evenings after I was done studying for the day), and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely rewatch this series some time.
Nem Eu – Salvador Sobral: My obsession with Salvador Sobral’s music continued throughout the month of June, and this song is just as beautiful as his Eurovision song. I still don’t understand a single word, but it still manages to move me, and I think it’s incredible when music can do that.
By tomorrow it’ll officially be summer. Last week felt like summer in Denmark, but right now it’s windy and rainy outside. May was yet another busy month; the exam period started and I had a big choir concert last week. June will continue to be all about exams, but it is nice to know that this is my last exam period, because I’m going to write my master’s thesis next semester. Even though I’ve been busy this month, I still had a lot of favourites, and here’s five of them.
Adidas Superstar 80s Primeknit sneakers: I bought these sneakers in a Black Friday sale last year, but because of the light knitted material and the cold Danish weather, I haven’t been able to wear until this spring. I’ve especially worn then a lot this past month, and I simply think they are awesome.
Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Eclipse: You probably know by now how much I love the Jeffree Star Skin Frosts, and this limited edition shade made in collaboration with Manny MUA is gorgeous. If Ice Cold and Peach Goddess had a baby, Eclipse would be it.
Homemade iced coffee: As I mentioned, I’m in the middle of the exam period, so I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee. In the beginning of the month, I decided to try to make my own iced coffee, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s really easy to make (it’s just coffee, a bit of sugar, milk, and ice cubes) and it tastes so good.
Riverdale (TV series): I know I’m a little late to the party when it comes to this Netflix Original series, but better late than never. I didn’t really know what to expect (I don’t know much about Archie Comics), but I was extremely pleasantly surprised. I love crime solving series and some high school/love drama. Actually, I enjoyed this series so much that I watched it twice this month. I can’t wait for season 2!
Amar pelos Dois – Salvador Sobral: I love the Eurovision Song Contest, and I’ve watched it every year since I was little. I don’t always like the winning song, but this year my absolute favourite won. This is one of the most beautiful and moving songs, I’ve ever listened to and my favourite Eurovision winner of all time. Even though I don’t understand a single word (it’s in Portuguese) and still feel every single word, and I’ve been listening to this song on repeat ever since it won the contest. Please, take a few minutes and listen to this song if you haven’t already.
Jeffree Star and Manny MUA are two of my favourite beauty youtubers, so I was very excited about this limited edition collaboration. I decided to get the Skin Frost and one of the two Velour liquid lipsticks. The Skin Frost is called Eclipse and is a beautiful peachy, champagne colour. The lipstick is called I’m Shook and is a muted corally red (it’s really hard to describe). Both products are absolutely stunning, and the matte black and holographic packaging is amazing!
The first month of 2017 has already come to an end. Times flies by so fast. My January was mainly exam studying, choir rehearsals and performances, and then I had a bit of time off before the new semester started this week. I hope you all had a great start to the new year, and now let’s talk about some favourites.
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork: Because I’ve been studying for my exam most of January my make-up routine has been quick and easy, and this cream eye shadow has been the main thing I’ve worn on my eyes. It’s perfect as a base or on it’s own.
Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Peach Goddess: This has been my go-to highlighter in January. It’s a beautiful rose gold-ish colour which almost matches my skin and is therefore less intense on the skin, but still glowy and beautiful (it’s difficult to explain) and I’ve been loving that look.
The Sims 4 City Living (computer game): I got the newest expansion pack for The Sims 4 for Christmas, and I’ve been playing it pretty much whenever I had the time. I love playing The Sims so much; it’s one of my favourite pastimes.
Footloose (film): I’ve watched so many good films this month and the one that started it all was Footloose (the original one of course). It’s just one of those classics that I’d been wanting to watch for ages, and I’m so glad I finally got around to it, because it was great.
Night Driver – Busted (album): Another one of my Christmas presents was Busted’s newest album. As I’ve mentioned before I’m a huge Busted fan, so I was extremely excited to listen to this album. Even though it’s very different from the music they used to make I still absolutely love it. Above you can listen to the song with this same title as the album, Night Driver, which is one of my many favourite songs from the album.
We are quickly moving into the last month of autumn and soon December will be just around the corner (yay!). I’ve been in a Christmas mood since September, so I’m so ready for December, but I have a lot of fun things coming up in November as well. If anyone celebrated Halloween this weekend or maybe today I hope you had/are having a great time, and before we say goodbye to October, let’s talk about some of my favourite things from the past month.
Adidas ZX Flux sneakers: These sneakers has been my go-to shoes this past month. They’re super comfortable and I think the black and white pattern adds a cool touch to any outfit.
Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray: This product has been a favourite of mine since I bought it and I use it almost everyday. I’ve been giving a lot of concerts with the choir this month, and it’s been nice to know that my make-up would stay put throughout those concerts (and rehearsals).
Double Dutch braids/plaits (hairstyle): I’ve absolutely loved this hairstyle for several months now, but I’ve especially worn my hair like this a lot this past month. It just adds a little extra something to any outfit + it’s really comfortable to wear your hair away from the face like this.
Hagelslag: I know this might be a bit of a strange favourite, but when I was in the Netherlands I discovered hagelslag. I don’t know if any of you know it, but it looks like sprinkles, but it taste different than regular sprinkles and then you put it on bread and eat it for breakfast. I’m especially loving the chocolate ones; they’re so good.
On What You’re On – Busted: I’m one of the people who are really exited about Busted being reunited. I’ve been a huge Busted fan since I was 14 and it’s my second favourite band (McFly is my favourite). When they announced that they were making new music I had no idea what to expect, but this song is amazing. It’s different from the music they used to make, but I still absolutely love it. I love the funky vibe of the song, and it’s just so catchy.
I just realised in this moment that by tomorrow summer will be officially over. It’s a bit sad, but on the other hand I might be okay for me to start looking forward to Christmas then. August has been quite an eventful month for me, but I did have time to enjoy the last bits of my summer holiday. Uni started again this week, and even though I’ve enjoyed having some time off, it’s nice to be back. Anyways, here are my last favourites from this summer.
Light blue bomber jacket: This second hand bomber has been my favourite piece of clothing this past month. I’m wearing it today, I wore it yesterday, I think I’ve worn it every week since I bought it. It’s just such an effortless piece and I’ve styled it in so many different ways.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel: I got this sample with my last Beautybay order and it’s probably the best brow gel I’ve tried. When you set your eyebrows with this, they stay in place all day.
NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette: I haven’t gotten around to haul this palette yet (I will soon though), but I had to include it in my August favourites. These highlight shades are so beautiful and pigmented, and there’s a shade for every kind of make-up look.
Drake – Controlla (Old School R&B Medley) by Conor Maynard: I remember listening to some of Conor Maynard’s covers on Youtube many years ago, and about a month or so ago I rediscovered him. This cover/medley of songs is amazing. I don’t remember the last time I listened to a song on repeat like I did with this song in the beginning of August, and I’ve kept listening to it throughout the month. It’s so catchy!
Philips wireless portable speaker: My youngest sister’s got one of these speakers, and I thought it was very handy, so I put it on my birthday wish list and was lucky enough to get it. I just connect it to my iPad via bluetooth, and the sound is really good. This past month I’ve been listening to even more music than I usually do because of this little guy.
The last month of spring has come to an end and by tomorrow it’ll be officially summer. Luckily, the Danish weather is amazing and very summery at the moment; too bad I have to be indoors most of the time to study for my exams. Anyways, I had quite a few favourites this month, but I managed to pick out five to share with you.
L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow foundation (shade: 01 Porcelain): I did a first impressions post on this foundation, and I still enjoy it. It’s actually the only foundation I’ve worn since I purchased it. It’s very easy to work with and it’s nice and glowy.
MAC Dunes At Dusk Gleamtones powder: This limited edition highlighting powder from MAC’s Vibe Tribe collection is so gorgeous. I’ve been wearing it a ton, and it’s quite different from any other highlighter I own, but so beautiful. Very summer appropriate in a way.
The Revenant (film): I had been wanting to watch The Revenant ever since it premiered, and I finally got to watch a few days before it stopped playing at the cinemas, and I’m so glad I did. It was a great film though very harsh, and it was beautifully shot. If I one day get the opportunity to watch again I definitely will.
Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake: I think a lot of you will agree with me when I say that Justin Timberlake is awesome. I’ve mentioned before that ‘N Sync is my all time favourite boyband, but JT has an incredible solo career as well. This song from the Trolls amimation film is so damn catchy, and I love it!
My first tattoo: My absolute favourite this month is my very first tattoo (no, it is not me being tattooed in the picture – it’s just a picture from Google Images). I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo since I was 15, and I’ve been wanting the specific tattoo that I got, since I was 16, and I’m so happy that I finally had it done. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, and I love it so much. I got the tattoo for me, and it’s one of a kind (unless someone else out there had the same strange idea), so I’m not going to show it to you (at least for now). I think it looks great, and I’m looking forward to having it on my body for the rest of my life.
From tomorrow on it’ll officially be spring, even though the weather in Denmark states otherwise. I really wish that the weather would become warmer very soon. Not that I would have much time to enjoy it, since March is going to be all about exams. I can’t believe that I already have exams again. Anyways, my favourites from the past month consists of the two M’s; Make-up and Movies.
Zoeva En Taupe eye shadow palette: I’m so glad I purchased this palette. It’s been my most used palette since I received it in the end of January. If you want to see what the shades inside the palette look like, you can check out this post.
Makeup Geek blusher in Spell Bound: I was really excited about trying out Makeup Geek’s blushers, and I was not disappointed. The shade I’ve been especially loving is Spell Bound which is my go-to kind of blush shade.
MAC lipstick in Von Teese: This has probably been my most worn lipstick this past month. It’s the perfect shade of red in my opinion and I love the matte finish. I’m wearing it here.
When Harry Met Sally (film): I’ve been wanting to watch this classic romcom for I don’t know how many years, and I finally caught it on TV a few weeks back. I really enjoyed it, and I see why it’s a classic.
Snow White & The Huntsman (film): This is another film that pleasantly suprised me this month. I love that it has a twist on the original story about Snow White plus I won’t complain about a film which have both Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin in it:)
I can’t believe that December has already come to an end. As I mentioned last month December is my favourite month, and this December was another great one. I was in a Christmas mood all through the past month until a few days ago. Now I’m studying for my exams, and that’s pretty much all January is going to be about; exams! But first I’m going to celebrate the new year, and I hope you’re all going to have an awesome night. But first, here’s some of my favourite things from the lovely month of December.
L’Oréal Lumi Magique Pure Light primer: This primer gives you the most gorgeous glowy skin, and I’ve been loving glowy skin this past month, probably because I find it extra appropriate for Christmas time.
Wet n Wild Color Icon eye shadow palette in Comfort Zone:As I mentioned here, I’d been wanting to try out Wet n Wild eye shadows for such a long time, and I’ve been wanting this palette in particular, and I’m not dissappointed. The quality is amazing considered the price, and I’m especially loving the green shades.
McBusted – The Story of the Worlds Biggest Supergroup (book): I’m not big on reading, unless the book is about one of my favourite bands. I got the book on my gift Advent calendar, and I was hooked from the very first page. I haven’t finished the book yet, because I’ve been studying for my exams and playing a certain computer game in my spare time, but I’m really looking forward to reading the last pages.
The Sims 4 Get Together (computer game): For my birthday in August I got The Sims 4 base game and the Get To Work expansion pack, and one of the things I wished for the most this Christmas was the new Get Together expansion pack, and I was lucky enough to get it. I just wanna play The Sims 4 all the time, but unfortunately I have some exams to study for which is just a bit more important than playing The Sims:)
Christmas – Michael Bublé (album): I love Christmas music and I love Michael Bublé, and again this year I’ve listened to his Christmas album countless times. Among my favourites are It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, Holly Jolly Christmas, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and I’ll Be Home For Christmas.
