Glam

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. You’ll be seeing many make-up products in my Christmassy make-up looks which I haven’t hauled yet. For example, I used the Natasha Denona Glam palette for this eye look, but I won’t be posting the haul featuring it for quite a while.

It’s that time of the year again

Here’s what I wore Sunday November 14. It’s time my first Christmassy outfit though this one is a bit more toned down. Just as last year, my plan is to post my Christmassy outfits and corresponding make-up looks on the same day so that I’ll get to post all my Christmassy looks before the year is over. This means that I’ll save the outfits and make-up looks from the beginning of July until mid November for now. Stay tuned for a make-up post later on today.

5 favourites – October

Happy Halloween! I can’t believe that we’ll be in November by toworrow. Time really flies. But at this time of the year, I don’t mind, because it only means that we’re getting closer and closer to December and Christmas time, which you might have noticed is my favourite time of the year. But first, I’ll be celebrating Halloween tonight by watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas” while eating Halloween sweets, and I’m pretty excited about that as well. But before I get to that I’m going to share a few favourites from the month of October with you.

Converse Run Star Hike pride sneakers: These have been my go-to sneakers this past month. They’re the most comfortable Converse I’ve ever owned, and I love that they’re a plain white with all the rainbow details. They just go with so many outfits.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose setting powder: I’m still way behind on hauls, so I haven’t posted anything about this powder yet. However, I get why people love this powder, because so do I. It just looks and feels so smooth on the skin all day. I’m so glad that I finally decided to try it out.

Catrice HD Active Performance Freezing spray: I don’t often steer away from Urban Decay All Nighter when it comes to setting sprays, but I have to say that I’ve really been enjoying this spray from Catrice. As it says on the lid, it’s very cooling and refreshing, and I also think it makes a difference when it comes to keeping the make-up in place all day.

Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Vanilla tea: This tea has actually been a favourite for over a year, maybe almost two years, and I can’t believe that I haven’t featured it in a favourites post until now. It doesn’t contain caffeine, so it’s the perfect evening tea, and I drink a cup most evenings. And if you like vanilla, you would like this.

About Time (film): I’d heard and read that this was supposed to be a really good film, but for some reason I wasn’t intrigued by the time travelling premise, but when I visited my parents last week my mum had it on DVD and we decided to watch it, and I’m glad we did. Even though the time travelling is a bit strange, it’s a great romantic story, and it you like those, you would probably like this film.

5 favourites – September

The first month of autumn has come to an end. The weather has definitely started to become more autumnal, and I’m very excited about that. I’m looking forward to another month of autumn with Halloween around the corner, and then it won’t be long before Christmas is here! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know how I feel about Christmas. But anyways, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, and let’s talk about some of my favourite things from the month of September.

Dior Backstage Face & Body powder in 0N Neutral: This product is from one of my August/September hauls. It will still be quite a while before I’ll be posting that haul, but I had to share this powder with you. Dior is obviously a luxury brand, and this is not a cheap powder, but I think it might be worth the more expensive price point, because it’s just stunning on the skin. It has a natural glow to it, which looks beautiful.

MAC Magic Extension mascara: I got a sample of the newest mascara from MAC with an online purchase this past summer, and I will be doing a first impressions post on it at some point. However, as you might have guessed from the fact that I’m featuring it in a favourites post, I really enjoy this mascara. It looks great, I like the brush, and it doesn’t transfer on me, so I’m quite excited about this product.

KAYALI Eau de Parfum Rollerball in MUSK | 12 & VANILLA | 28: I don’t try new perfumes very often, but I’m obsessed with everything vanilla scented, so I thought I would try this rollerball perfume from KAYALI. It’s a dobble-ended rollerball, so it also have a musk perfume, and I absolutely love both scents. And I love the rollerball design; it’s so convenient and travel-friendly.

LEGO Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse: For my birthday in August my boyfriend gave me this LEGO Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse set. It wasn’t on my wishlist, but it was such a great gift. I’ve had such a great time buildning my two favourite mice, and I’m really excited to build the last few pieces that came with the set; a flower bouquet, a guitar, a camera on a tripod, and a book.

The Danish Girl (film): I’ve been wanting to watch this film for years now, and I finally got around to it when I was ill with the flu a couple of weeks ago. It’s such a beautiful and emotional story; in the film and in real life. I think I was extra moved by it being Danish myself. Go watch it if you haven’t already, and be prepared to cry.

First impressions: Essence Lash Princess mascaras

I’ve been trying out two Essence Lash Princess mascaras, the False Lash Effect and the Curl & Volume, so I thought I would combine my first impressions on both mascaras in one post.

Let’s start with the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect mascara. I’ve already featured this one in a 5 favourites post, which obviously means that I like it. But here are some more details about this mascara.

It has a cone shaped bristle brush/wand which I love. It my lashes look long and voluminous, and I would definitely say that the mascara holds it’s claim of giving a false lash effect. I wore two coats on my top lashes, and I think my lashes look really good. I used a spooly to remove the mascara marks on my eyelids and underneath my eyes (there were very few though), and they was very easy to remove. I discovered very little transfer to the top of my eyelids (and only after many hours of wear), however, the older the formula gets the more it transfers (I’ve been wearing this mascara a lot since I wrote down my first impressions). I removed it with regular eye make-up remover which took a little bit of work, but nothing to bad and I don’t really care because it’s such a great mascara + it’s so affordable!

And now moving on to the Essence Lash Princess Curl & Volume mascara.

This mascara has an hourglass shaped bristle brush/wand, which is not my favourite type of mascara wand (because it’s thick at the end/tip). My lashes are naturally curled, so it’s difficult to say, if they look more curled with this mascara on (I don’t think they do). I wore two coats on my top lashes, and you need that second coat to get the volume that it claims to give, but then you definitely do get volume, and I do think my lashes look really good. I used a spooly to remove the mascara marks on my eyelids and underneath my eyes, and it was fairly easy. There was very little transfer to the top of my eyelids, though nothing major. I removed it with regular eye make-up remover, and it was fairly easy to remove (probably a little easier than the False Lash Effect mascara). My lashes looked good all day, and overall I really like this mascara, however, I think I prefer the False Lash Effect one a little bit more.

5 favourites – August

August went by so quickly, if you ask me. I went back to work after a long, relaxing summer holiday, and things are looking a bit more “normal”. I also had a birthday, went to a wedding and a confirmation celebration, so August was eventful indeed. Even though the calendar might say that it is autumn by tomorrow, the Danish weather is actually very nice and summery this week. However, I’m starting to get excited about autumn and colder weather; I want to wear corduroy and knitwear and boots again. Maybe soon I will. But first, let’s talk about some favourites from the month of August.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless primer: For once, I’m featuring a product that I have actually already hauled. As I mentioned in this Lyko haul, I’ve been loving this primer throughout both July and August. I love that it contains SPF 20, and I just like the way it feels and looks on the skin and the way make-up looks on top of it.

L’Oreal Paris Infaillible 24H Fresh Wear foundation (shade: 015 Porcelain): An now on to a product I haven’t hauled yet, but which I’ve been loving so much. I’d heard so many good things about this foundation, and I must say that it really is great. It’s not often that I fall in love with a foundation, but that’s the case with this one.

Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle cream bronzer in Butta Biscuit: I’ve had this cream bronzer since February or March, and I loved it from the very beginning, but my love for it has grown significantly over the past month or so. This is the easiest cream bronzer to use. It almost blends itself. And the shade Butta Bisquit is perfect on me.

Batman – The Dark Night trilogy (films): The only film from the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy I’d watch until a week or two ago was The Dark Night, and I watched it because of Heath Ledger, who is brilliant in it. However, I decided to watch all three films recently, and I really liked them. More than I thought I would. I love the MCU which is more supernatural and fun, but these darker more realistic superhero films were really good as well.

Cruella (film): I’d been waiting for so long for Cruella to become available to all on Disney+, and when it finally did last Friday I watched it right away, and I really enjoyed it. It was not only a Disney film, but also a fashion film, which only made it better. Plus I just love Emma Stone.

5 favourites – July

July is coming to an end, which means that my summer holiday is coming to an end, but it’s been a lovely, relaxing three weeks with beautiful summer weather most of the time. I’m excited to get back to work again on Monday as well though; I really hope everything will be sort of back to normal (meaning no more online teaching please). When it comes to favourites this month, I’ve had a lot of make-up favourites, which makes sence, because when you travel with a limited amount of make-up, you get to use the same products many times and form a proper opinion on them. So here are my 5 favourites from the month of July.

Natasha Denona Zendo palette: This year (and last year) I’ve been taking more outfit- and make-up pictures due to the lock downs, and I’ve also been shopping more, so these days I’ll be posting e.g. a haul months after I purchased the items. That’s why I sometimes feature items in these favourites posts that I haven’t hauled yet, but that I’ve still been using. I think that’s true for all the items in this favourites post. That is also why this is the first time you see the Natasha Denona Zendo palette on my blog. I’ve falling in love with Natasha Denona palettes this year, and this one is no exception. I love that it contains both warm toned- and cool toned shades, neutrals and more colourful shades. There are still many shades I haven’t worn yet, but I’ve loved the looks I’ve created with this palette so far.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting bronzer (shade: Luminous Bronze Light): I’d been wanting to try an Hourglass bronzer for so long, but they’re so expensive. However, I got one in a Sephora sale in late April, and I’m so glad I finally made the purchase, because this is a stunning bronzer. I’m very into glowy face products these days, and this was pretty much the only bronzer I wore when I was on holiday.

MAC Black Cherry Extra Dimension blush (shade: Dilly-Dolly): I love the Extra Dimension formula from MAC, and I love that the 2021 Black Cherry spring collection contained a handful of Extra Dimension blushes. I picked up one shade, when I initially purchased from the collection, but I kept seeing this light pink shade online, so I had to have that one as well, and it quickly became a favourite. The picture really doesn’t do it justice, but it’s the most beautiful light pink with a gold shift, and it’s super glowy and so stunning.

Essence Mini perfume balm stick trio (01 Mini But Yummy): Essence recently launched a collection of mini products (I’ll be doing a post on some of the items at some point), and I’ve really falling in love with these perfume balm sticks. I don’t like coconut scented things, so I haven’t used that one, but I love the peach and the vanilla scents; especially the vanilla one which is my favourite. They’re so easy to use, and so easy to take with you on the go.

The Sims 4 Cottage Living (expansion pack) + Dream Home Decorator (game pack): I love playing The Sims 4. I’ve played versions of The Sims for almost 20 years now, and I still absolutely love it. Within the last couple of months we got both a new game pack and a new expansion pack, and I’m so excited about both of them. First we got Dream Home Decorator, which came with an interior decorator career and the most amazing furniture pieces. Cottage Living is the farming pack, I think many players have been waiting for. I know I’ve been wanting to have chickens, cows and oversized crops in The Sims for years. I love that after so many years of playing The Sims it still gets me excited. Actually, I think I’ll stop writing this post now and go play.

Another huge Lyko haul

Lyko has been one of my go-to webshops for purchasing make-up in 2021. Especially drugstore/affordable make-up and brands like Essence and Catrice, which aren’t widely available. So I have another huge Lyko haul to share with you today.

I think I purchased the entire Essence #pinkandproud limited edition line. It contains the Brave nail polish in 01 Be Brave. And Never Regret!, the Powerful Lash Princess Curl & Volume mascara in 01 You Can And You Will! (I’ll be posting a first impressions on this mascara at some point), the Unstoppable scunchie & hair clips, the Strong soapy brow styler in 01 Stronger Than Yesterday!, the Wonderful baked blushlighter in 01 Believe In Yourself!, and the Not Sorry glitter lipstick in 01 Sorry, Not Sorry!.

I’ve already featured this soapy brow styler in a favourites post, so I obviously really like this product.

This product is described as a blushlighter. I would wear it as a blush, but it has a strong golden glow/shift to it. Sadly, it came broken, and since I’ve purchased another very similar product (which is also featured in this haul), I might declutter this one and keep the other one.

The last product in the Essence #pinkandproud line is this hot pink glitter lipstick. I didn’t expect too much of it considered the price, but this lipstick is very pigmented and very glittery. I’m quite impressed by it.

I also purchased a few more products from Essence and a couple of other items. From Essence I also got the Let the Party Glow On! Shine Last & Go! gel nail polish in 23 Party Time, The Blush in 80 Breezy, an eyeshadow in 20 Cream, and the Soft & Precise lip pencil in 5 Legendary. Then I got a back up of my favourite nail polish top coat form Rimmel (the Nail Nurse Base & Top Coat), and the new-ish Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless primer, which I’ve been using a lot lately, because it contains SPF 20, and I really like it.

The rest of the products in this haul are from Catrice. I got two Jewel Overload Limited Edition brushes, the presicion eye brush and the blender brush, and the rest I’ll be splitting in to smaller sections.

Let’s start with face products. I got the HD Active Performance Freezing Spray, which is a long wear setting spray, and so far I’m really enjoying this product. It’s cooling and it smells nice, and I do think it makes the make-up last longer. Next, I picked up the One Step Skin Perfector, which is supposed to be a tinted primer with SPF 20. I haven’t tried it yet, so I’m not sure if it really is skin perfecting. Then I picked up the Clean ID High Cover Luminous Matt foundation in 004 Light Almond. I’ve used this foundation a couple of times, but it has a very peachy undertone, and it’s not my favourite colour match. The last product in this section is the True Skin High Cover Concealer in 005 Warm Macadamia, which was way too dark on me, so I’ve already gotten rid of it.

Then we have the blush which is extremely similar to the Essence #pinkandproud Wonderful baked blushlighter. This is the Catrice Cheek Lover Oil-Infused blush in 010 Blooming Hibiscus. The shades are almost identical and the finishes are completely identical, so as I mentioned I might just keep this one and declutter the broken Essence one. The highlighter is the Kaviar Gauche highlighter in C01 Glow Couture. The packaging and design on the product are very pretty, and the highlighter itself is pretty too.

For lips I got the Power Full 5 glossy lip oil in 020 Cherry Blossom Glow. It’s quite sheer, but it feels lovely on the lips. I also got the Better Than Fake Lips plumping lip primer in 010 Pump Up The Lips!. It tinkles a little on the lips, but it’s not uncomfortable, however, it’s quite drying, and I don’t think it plumps that much.

Lastly, I got to nail products from Catrice as well. I got the Sleep Proop top coat, which is sleep proof, but it doesn’t make you nail colour last very long. The nail polish is the More Than Nude nail polish in 13 To Be ContiNUDEd. It’s very sheer, so I had to wear three layers to get sort of decent coverage, but then it just looked thick on the nails, so I’m not a fan of this one. I prefer the Essence nail polishes.

First impressions: Essence Skin Lovin’ Sensitive line

It’s time for another first impressions post, but this time it’s a bit different, because I tested and wrote down my first impressions of three products at once instead of just one. The reason I did this is because I tried out the whole Essence Skin Lovin’ Sensitive line, which consists of a primer, a concealer, and a mineral powder.

The primer: It has a thick and creamy texture, and it applies very nicely. It doesn’t smell of much, which I like, and it feels nice on the skin – smooth and not sticky. My foundation applied very nicely on top of the primer (I wore Maybelline Fit Me foundation).

The concealer: It has a flat doe foot applicator (it’s flat on both sides). The texture is thin and liquidy, and it feels very light on the skin. The product claims to have buildable coverage, medium to high, but I would say that it’s more light to medium coverage. It’s not the best concealer for covering spots due to the lighter coverage, but it’s not terrible. The concealer applied and blended out nicely underneath the eyes though, and it looks quite natural.

The powder: I used the powder to set both my undereyes and my entire face. Even though it might not look like it in the pan, the powder is actually translucent, so everyone should be able to use it. It feels nice and smooth, and it’s definitely mattifying just as it claims to be, however it still feels light on the skin.

Final thoughts: My undereye area had not creased, and my skin still looked pretty matte throughout most of the day. I removed my make-up after about 11 hours of wear, and my skin was a little shiny at that time, but nothing too bad. All products were very easy to remove with micellar water. Overall, I like all three products. None of them wowed me, but I’ll definitely continue to use them. And you can’t beat the affordable price.

Beauty Bay haul – mainly BH Cosmetics

It’s already time for another Beauty Bay haul, and I have quite a few more waiting to be posted. The products in this haul was purchased in mid-late March.

Most of the products in this haul are from BH Cosmetics, which is a brand that I’m obsessed with at the moment. The quality of their eyeshadows and blushers and highlighters is amazing! I purchased the eyeshadow palette and the blush palette from the Flower Power collection. I love the shades in both palettes, and the packaging and names are so cute.

I’ve been wanting the Avocado Toast palette ever since I purchased the Blueberry Muffin palette, so I had to get it this time around, and the quality and colour selection in this palette is incredible too.

The last BH Cosmetics eyeshadow palette I bought this time around was the Drop Dead Gorgeous Full-On Crazy palette. I think I’ve only done one look with this palette so far, but I remember it to be very pretty.

I also decided to get the Aprés in Aspen highlighter palette from BH Cosmetics. I love a coloured highlighter with certain looks, and I thought this selection of shades was so pretty. I’ve already used this palette quite a bit.

The last thing I got from from BH Cosmetics is the Take Me Back To Brazil brush set, which contains 10 brushes, and BH Cosmetics makes great, affordable brushes and they come in all different kinds of sets.

The last two items in this haul are from Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and I got them on sale. I got the Magic Star setting powder in the shade Lavender, which is a very nice brightening powder; great for setting the undereye area. And then I also got another Velour lip liner in Prom Night, which is Jeffree Star’s classic hot pink shade.
