I find it difficult to find a foundation that’s light enough to match my fair skin. I’d heard/read good things about the L’Oréal True Match foundation and I was happy to find a shade that matches my skin (in the autumn/winter time). I got the shade R1/C1 Rose Ivory. I have to say that I really like this foundation; it has a medium coverage (which I prefer) and it blends out really nicely. I would definitely repurchase this foundation, and I would actually really like to try the True Match concealer as well.

Provocalips + Kate
I have been waiting for the Rimmel Provocalips to come to Denmark, and when they finally did (and the drugstore had a 3 for 2 sale on Rimmel make-up) I went out and bought two different colours to try them out. I chose the colours 200 I’ll Call You and 550 Play With Fire. I’ll Call You just seemed like the perfect mid tone neutral pink, and it’s very pretty and very wearable. There were two different red shades, but Play With Fire which is the darker one really caught my eye. So far I’m quite impressed with these liquid lipsticks. They’re really pigmented and has a matte finish when they dry. You can leave them like that or you can apply the lock and shine balm which I’ve done the times I’ve worn them, and your lips look and feel great. Because there was a 3 for 2 sale when I bought them, I also picked up yet another Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick. I picked up no. 29 which is a purply, magenta type colour. So pretty! You’ll see all of these lip products on my lips in make-up posts in the future.
Candied violet
Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I wanted to create a look based on the Candied Violet shade in my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, but as I wrote in this post I was a bit disappointed in the glittery shades. Candied Violet looks way more purple and glittery in the pan, but on the eye the shade shows up as in the picture which still looks pretty, but I just expected the colour to be more vibrant and glittery.
(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection (shades: Strawberry Bon Bon + Candied Violet + White Chocolate + Champagne Truffle), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: Rimmel Colour Rush Colour Balm in 110 Make Me Blush)
5 favourites – February
The last winter month has come to an end, and I’m really looking forward to spring. I hope the weather will soon become more spring-like though. Sadly, February has been a month of illness in my case; I’ve been ill the past week, and I was also ill a couple of weeks back. Hopefully, the arrival of spring will change my unfortunate situation. But anyways, on to this months favourites.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar eye shadow palette: I just want to mention right away that I had quite a few make-up favourites this month, but I’ve boiled them down to three. My absolut favourite make-up product this month has been my Chocolate Bar palette. This palette is amazing, and I’m so glad I finally bought it. I did a full post on it here.
Stila Convertible Color in Lillium: Yes, my two purchases from BeautyBay.com have definitely been hits this month. This dual lip and cheek cream has been one of my most used blushers this month; I love the colour, and I love the more dewy finish a cream product gives the skin. I would love to get my hands on more Convertible Colors from Stila.
Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in 210 Keep It Classy: I’ve mentioned this lip product several times this past month and for that reason alone I had to feature it in this post. The reason I have mentioned it a lot is simply because it’s sooo good. It’s so smooth and easy to apply, and it’s quite long lasting as well. I would say it has a semi-matte finish, and the colour is absolutely amazing. I’m wearing it here.
Friends – TV-series: I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before (I probably have), but Friends is my all-time favourite TV-series. I’ve watch all seasons so many times, but I still find it amusing. Due to the fact that I finished the last season of Sex and the City (again) which is my second favourite TV-series, and the fact that I’ve been ill a lot, I started watching Friends again, and it never grows old in my opinion.
McBusted (album) – McBusted: I think we have established by now how much I love McBusted, and I really wanted to get my hands on their debut album which came out in December last year, but you can’t buy it in any music stores in Denmark. I had thought about buying it somewhere online, but without me knowing about it my mum had bought it for me, so you can imagine how excited I was when she told me. I was a bit sceptical about the whole McBusted thing in the beginning (due to the fact that I’m such a huge McFly fan), but I have to say McBusted has won me over big time. I would probably still like to have McFly back at some point, but right know I’m really into McBusted, and their debut album is everything I hoped for. I knew a couple of the songs already (which I loved and still do), but I was so stoked to finally listen to the whole album, and the sound is just the perfect mix of McFly and Busted. Well done, guys!
Chocolate Bar
I’ve been drooling (pun intended) over this palette for almost a year, and I’m so glad that I finally decided to purchase it about a month ago. It’s (obviously) the Too Faced Chocolate Bar eye shadow palette and I purchaced it from BeautyBay.com alongside this Stila Convertible Color. This palette has an amazing colour selection; it’s mostly neutrals, but mixed in with some more colourful shadows. The palette contains 16 eye shadows, and as far as I can see and feel the shadows come in three different finishes/textures; there are 6 matte shades (White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Triple Fudge, Salted Caramel, Semi-Sweet, and Strawberry Bon Bon), 4 (slightly chalky) glittery shades (Gilded Ganache, Black Forest Truffle, Candied Violet, and Cherry Cordial), and 6 (buttery) metallic shades (Marzipan, Amaretto, Hazelnut, Créme Brulee, Haute Chocolate, and Champagne Truffle). My favourite finish/texture is definitely the latter. They are so buttery smooth and incredibly pigmented (my favourites right now are Marzipan, Amaretto, and Hazelnut). I love the matte shades as well which are mostly neutral shades (I’m in love with Salted Caramel!). The only disappointing thing about this palette is the glittery shades. The colours look gorgeous in the pan, but are quite chalky, and not as pigmented as the other shadows. All in all I do absolutely love this palette, and I would highly recommend it. Oh, and how cute is the packaging and shadow names:)
Party liner
Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. As I wrote when I bought the silver liquid eyeliner, it would most likely become a party make-up stable for me, and it has. I wanted to wear a hot pink lipstick to go with my pink blazer, and that requires a simple eye make-up, and some silver eyeliner is the perfect way of glamming up the look.
(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – MUA Ever After matte eye shadow palette (shade: Bare + Fade) + L’Oréal Color Infallible eye shadow in 014 Eternal Black + Stila All Over Shimmer Duo highlighter (lightest shade on browbone), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliners – Collection 2000 Glam Metallics Coloured Liquid Eyeliner in Vinyl 1 + MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: MAC No Faux Pas lipstick)
Nothing dull about grey
Here’s what I wore Wednesday January 21. I might have mentioned it before, but I love grey clothing, shoes, and accessories. Some people might think it’s a dull colour, but I disagree. I like using grey in an outfit as a softer version of black, but I also like an all-grey outfit like this one.
(Jeans – Cheap Monday, sweatshirt – H&M, necklace – Gina Tricot, bracelets – Spinning, sneakers – Nike)
Neutral pinks
I did quite a lot of shopping in January and I still haven’t shown you a lot of the stuff I bought. I bought these three products when the drugstores had a 2 for 1 deal on Rimmel and a 30 % off deal on Maybelline. From Rimmel I bought another Lasting Finish Colour Rush Long Lasting Intense Colour Balm and a Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush. The Colour Balm is in the colour 110 Make Me Blush. I’m really into neutral pinks at the moment, and I been swatching this one on the back of my hand many times and finally decided to get it. It looks more like a neutral pink in the tube and on the hand swatch than on the lips. It’s less neutral and more pink on the lips, but it’s still very pretty. The blusher is in the colour 020 Pink Rose, and even though it looks like a peachy nude in the pan, it’s actually more pink on the skin (which fits with the name), but I really like that. I really like the colour and I really like the texture and finish as well, and I been wearing it quite a lot since I bought it. Last, but not least, I bought my first Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil. It’s in the colour 210 Keep It Classy and I’m obsessed! It’s obviously a jumbo pencil type product, but it’s sooo smooth and really easy to apply. It’s long lasting as well, and the colour… the colour is incredible. It’s the most gorgeous, deep, neutral, rosy pink. One of my favourite lip products at the moment.
Same red!?
I’ve been wanting to try these L’Oréal Collection Exclusive lipsticks for a long time, and when I found them really cheap on sale in January I decided to get two. I couldn’t see the actual colours, so I chose them based on the colour of the stickers on the bottom of the lipsticks. I’d heard beauty youtubers talk about Blake’s Pure Red, so I went for that one, and then I thought J Lo’s Pure Red looked pretty too (based on the sticker), but as it turns out, the two lipsticks are almost identical. The colour(s) are gorgeous and I love the matte finish, but if I had known that they were this similar I wouldn’t have bought both of them. But as I said they were so cheap, so it’s not a big loss:)
Matte – not so matte
Will you look at that; another nail post already! This is what my nails look like this week, or almost (I’ll get back to that in a second). I usually do my nails every Sunday evening, and last Sunday I cut my nails rather short, so I felt like wearing something neutral. I pulled out one of my favourite neutral polishes (H&M nail polish in the colour Nerd), and then I remembered that I had a matte top coat (from Gosh) lying around that I hadn’t used in ages. I absolutely love the way it turned out, but already about a day after applying the nail polishes the matte effect started to disappear. I don’t know if it’s because the nail polish is rather old, or if it’s just something matte polishes do. Please let me know if you’ve had the same experience, or if you have any recommendations for matte top coats/polishes, because I love the way it looks.
