Comfortable concert

Here’s what I wore at the One Direction concert Tuesday June 16. I know I’m still very much behind when it comes to posting outfits and make-up looks, but I went to Copenhagen last Wednesday and came home yesterday, and as always I might not blog as much during the summer holiday, but as always I’ll do my best:) Anyways, back to the outfit. It’s very similar to the outfit I wore at the concert last year, but it just had to be comfortable, and as I’ve mentioned McBusted was the warm-up act again this year, so of course I had to wear my McBusted band tee.

5 favourites – June

The month of exams is finally over and my summer holiday started a week ago. I’m really looking forward to July, where I’m going to relax and hang out with friends and family. Even though June was mainly about exams I did get out of my flat a few times which resulted in a couple of my favourites this month.

Bourjois Délice de Poudre Bronzing Powder: I’ve only got one beauty favourite this month due to the fact that I’ve been home studying for my exams most days and therefore I haven’t worn make-up. The days where I did wear make-up I wore products that’s been favourites of mine for a long time, but I did rediscover this Bourjois bronzer (also known as the chocolate bronzer). This bronzer has golden shimmer in it which is why I haven’t worn it during autumn and winter, but it gives your skin such a nice bronzy glow in the summertime.

Love, Rosie (film): I’ve been watching a few new films this month (and by new I mainly mean new to me), and I’m actually going to feature two of them in this post. The first one is ‘Love, Rosie’ which is a romantic comedy/drama about two best friends, Rosie and Alex. I deals with a bunch of realistic issues like friendship, love, dreams (and teenage pregnancy), and I really enjoyed watching it. It made me smile, but it also brought tears to my eyes which usually means that it’s a great film. I’m really looking forward to watch again.

jurassicworldheader

Jurassic World (film): I might have mentioned it before; ‘Jurassic Park’ is one of my two favourite films (the other being ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’), so I was extremely excited for Jurassic World. My dad and I went to see it the day after the premiere, and I loved it. I was worried that I would be disappointed, but I wasn’t, though it still doesn’t beat ‘Jurassic Park’ in my opinion.

danisnotonfire

danisnotonfire (Youtube channel): I’ve discovered a couple of new Youtube channels this month and my favourite is definitely danisnotonfire. I’d come across Dan Howell’s Youtube channel before, but it never really caught attention until a couple of weeks ago. It was actually Dan and his friend and roommate Phil’s (AmazingPhil) gaming channel that made me watch Dan’s (and Phil’s) main channel. He’s just very funny and charming and has a very contagious laugh.

One Direction concert (+ McBusted): Yes, my youngest sister and I went to the One Direction concert in Denmark again this year, and as well as last year McBusted was the warm-up act. It was an absolutely amazing concert and it’s definitely my favourite favourite this month.

Yellow pop art

This is what my nails have looked like the past week. I wanted to try out this top coat and decided to wear a yellow nail polish underneath. I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed in the top coat. Rimmel nail polishes are some of my favourites, but this top coat is thick and it’s very difficult to get the confettis to stay on the nails, so I applied two coats for more confettis, but I don’t think it helped much. It started to chip rather quickly as well, so this is not my favourite nail polish purchase, but I will probably try to make it work again some other time.

Top coat and concealer

Pop Art + True Match 1

As you know I haven’t been purchasing a lot of make-up the past couple of months, and I’m dying to shop! Last week I did buy these two little products. The nail polish top coat was on sale and I thought it would look cute on top of a lot of different colours. I’m wearing it right now, so I will tell you more about it in my next nail post. I’m soon running out of my favourite concealer, and due to the fact that I can’t get in Denmark, I thought I would try another one. I’ve been wanting to try the L’Oréal True Match concealer for a while, because there’s a shade light enough for my skin. It’s a very liquidy concealer and the coverage is not the best in my opinion, so I won’t be using it to cover up spots, but I do quite like it as an under eye concealer.

Comparison: drugstore liquid lipsticks

Remember when I compared two drugstore eyelid primers? Well, I don’t blame you if you don’t, because it was 4 months ago. I wrote that I’d might make some more posts like that, so that’s what I’m going to do now. I’m going to do a comparison of two different liquid lipsticks from the drugstore, and I’ve been wanting to make this post for a long time, but I just haven’t had the time to walk around with two-coloured lips for a whole day, until a few days ago. I’m going to compare the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick to the MUA Luxe London Velvet lip laquer. I chose to compare two pink colours (Bourjois: Pink Pong, MUA: Funk), so that my lips wouldn’t look too crazy.

Læber 1

I’m wearing the Bourjois one on the left side (your left) of my lips and the MUA one on the right side (I primed my lips with a bit of EOS lip balm). Since hot pinks/fuchsia pinks are my go-to lip colours, it might not come as a surprise that I love both shades. Both lipsticks are very pigmented (the MUA a bit more than the Bourjois) and equally easy (or difficult) to apply. Right after you’ve applied the lipsticks I find the Bourjois one a bit more comfortable; the MUA one is a bit sticky initially, but as soon as it has dried completely you don’t feel it on your lips. The Bourjois one turns a bit stickier during the day, but not in an annoying way. I decided not to touch up all day, so you can see how it wears. The first picture was taken right after application. The second picture was taking after I ate my lunch. As you can see the Bourjois one looks pretty much the same, while the MUA one wears off at the inner part of the lip. I’ve worn both lipsticks several times before, and I find the MUA one more difficult to reapply.

Læber 2

The next two pictures were taken after I ate my dinner and after removing the lipsticks respectively. After eating a larger meal for the second time the Bourjois one started to wear off a bit as well and the MUA one had worn off even more. I removed the lipsticks rather gently with Garnier Micellar Cleasing Water, and as you can see the MUA one came off easily, whereas the Bourjois one leaves a very light stain. None of them are extremely difficult to remove though.

And now to the conclusion: I really like both of them, but my favourite has to be the Bourjous Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipstick. It looks nicer for a longer time on the lips, and you don’t have to touch up very often. It is the more expensive one though (it’s £8,99 and the MUA one is only £3), but I definitely think it’s worth the money.

Old treasures

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. As I wrote in the outfit post the shirt was the inspiration behind my make-up look. As I have mentioned and as you might have noticed I haven’t done a lot of make-up shopping (or any shopping for that matter) the past couple of months, so I’ve been trying to use some make-up I haven’t been using in a long time. The main eye shadow in this look is an eye shadow from The Body Shop that I hadn’t worn in ages, and it turned out to be a perfect match for the shirt, and I love how the look turned out.

Eyelid Primer in Sheer, eye shadows – MUA Ever After matte eye shadow palette (shades: Fade + Smoke) + The Body Shop Eye Colour in 16 + MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade on browbone, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in Tea Rose)

Love/hate

Here’s what I wore Monday April 27. I hadn’t worn the shirt in ages, and I guess it’s because of my love/hate relationship to leopard print. I really like the colours of the shirt though and they were the inspiration behind my make-up look which will be posted on the blog next.

5 favourites – May

May has come to an end, and the first month of summer starts tomorrow, also known as the month of exams (at least in my case) or simply June. Even though I’m not looking forward to my exams, I’m at least going to study in some nice and improved surroundings. I didn’t move, but it feels a bit like it; I got a new kitchen this week, moved some stuff around and I’m getting rid of some stuff that made my place look and feel crouded. I even got myself a little vanity type space. Anyhow, before we jump into June, here’s some of my favourite things from the month of May.

DSC_6553

MAC lipstick in Steam Heat: I almost didn’t buy this lipstick, because I’m trying to save some money for my summer holiday, but I couldn’t resist the pretty packaging. Luckily, not only the packaging is pretty, so is the actual lipstick. It’s such a gorgeous red shade, and I’ve been wearing it a lot this past month.

Tangleteezer 1

Tangle Teezer: My hair brush broke a while back, so my mum told me to get a Tangle Teezer. I’d obviously heard about them before and that they’re supposed to be really good, so I tried my mum’s, and I’ve never brushed out my hair so easily before. If you have difficulties brushing out your hair, and you don’t already own one of these, go get one!

Stegosaurus necklace: This is actual not only a monthly favourite; this is my absolute favourite necklace. My mum bought the pendant for me at the American Museum of Natural History in New York in October 2013, and then I went and bought a necklace for it. This has been one of my most worn necklaces ever since I got it, and this past month I haven’t worn many other necklaces.

Colin_Firth_and_the_BBC_class_of__95_voted_best_Pride_and_Prejudice_cast

Pride and Prejudice (TV mini-series): When I was ill earlier this month I watched the whole Pride and Prejudice BBC mini-series in one day. It wasn’t my first time watching it, and even though I find some of the scenes a bit lengthy, I still enjoyed it a lot. I just think it’s a lovely story. Btw, I definitely prefer this mini-series over the film with Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Bennet.

Heroes – Måns Zelmerlöw: First of all, I have to mention that I’m a huge Eurovision Song Contest fan, and even though Denmark didn’t make it through to the finals this year, I still enjoyed watching both semi-finals and of course the big final. Second of all, I know people are saying that the Scandinavian countries are always voting for each other, but this year Sweden just had the best song, so I had to vote for them:) Måns Zelmerlöw performed this amazing song to perfection, and if you haven’t watched his performance already, you can watch right here.

Cherry cheese cake

DSC_6510

My youngest sister gave me this NYX Butter Gloss when she came home from a school trip to Berlin. It’s my first NYX product, and I’ve been wanting to try a Butter Gloss for a long time. It’s in the colour Cherry Cheese Cake, and it’s a very pretty peachy orange shade. I’m wearing it for the first time today, and so far I’m really happy with this product. It has a nice pigmentation, and I think it’s very comfortable on the lips. For a gloss it lasts a very decent amount of time as well. The only thing I don’t like about this gloss is the scent which is too sweet for my taste, but luckily it goes away almost instantly after you’ve applied it to your lips.

Bright back at you

DSC_6288DSC_6289DSC_6295

So, it’s been three months since my last nail post, and as I mentioned here and here my intention was to do more nail posts, but I haven’t had much time to be very creative with my nails. I’ll do my best though to get ‘back on the nail track’ yet again. Anyhow, this is what my nails looked like about four weeks ago. The blueish green nail polish is rather new; it’s one of Rimmel’s 60 Seconds nail polishes and it’s in the colour 835 Bright Back At You. The silver glitter nail polish is by Filthy Gorgeous and is called rock chick.
