First impressions: Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation

dsc_0783dsc_0893

It’s time for another ‘first impressions’ post, and this time it’s on the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation. First a few words on the packaging. As you can see it’s in a tube so you squeeze out the product. I always find this kind of packaging a bit messy, but if the product is good I can live with it. Now, about the actual product; it’s a liquid formula and I applied it with a make-up sponge. The coverage is good and it has a matte finish as it claims. It says it’s for normal to oily skin which I agree with. I have pretty normal skin, and it’s still a bit dry (due to the matte finish). I’m wearing the lightest shade in the range which is 110 Porcelain, and I think it’s a quite good colour match. I wore the foundation for about 13 hours when I first tried it out, and it looked pretty decent at the end of the day (I don’t expect my foundation to look incredible after 13 hours). So far I’m neither loving nor hating this product, but these are only my first impressions, so I’m looking forward to see how I feel about it after I’ve worn it a few more times.

First impressions: Jeffree Star Velour liquid lipsticks

dsc_0635dsc_0645

About three weeks ago I recieved my first Jeffree Star Velour liquid lipsticks, and I thought I would share my first impressions of them with you. I’d heard/read so many amazing things about these liquid lipsticks, so I was very happy to find them on Beautybay.com (one of my favourite webshops). At the time there was a limited selection of shades (but there has recently been added more shades), so I decided to get the two colours you see in the picture. The one in the yellow packaging is from the limited edition summer collection and it’s called Watermelon Soda, and the one in the pink packaging is a permanent shade and it’s called Blow Pony. The only difference I found with these two shades (apart from the colour of course) is the fact that the limited edition shade smells like watermelon and it smells phenomenal. The formula is very thin and liquidy, but very easy to apply. The pigmentation is fantastic and the product dries completely matte and transfer proof. I don’t find the lipsticks particularly drying on the lips and they last a very long lime. Like pretty much every other lipstick they wear off a bit on the inner/soft part of the lips when you eat and drink, but compared to the LA Splash liquid lipsticks these layer well and is therefore easy to touch up. I was able to remove (almost) all product with regular make-up remover/cleasing water. To be completely honest these are the best liquid lipsticks I’ve tried so far, and I highly recommend them.

5 favourites – September

Another month has passed, and I really can’t believe how fast time flies. September was all about Uni, and it won’t be long before my next exam. Weatherwise it has actually started to feel like autumn (we were blessed with a very warm first half of September), and even though I don’t enjoy the cold weather, I’m looking forward to be putting together autumn outfits. But before we jump further into the autumn season, here are some of my favourite things from the past month.

hvide-sandaler-vrs

White sandals by VRS: Because the weather was so lovely in the first half of September, I got to wear sandals a lot. I’m so happy I bought these white ones in the end of August, because I’ve worn them a ton.

DSC_0092

MAC eye shadow in Nylon: This has quickly become my new favourite eye shadow from MAC. It’s the perfect inner corner and browbone highlight, and I’ve worn it almost every day the past weeks.

dsc_0526

Milani powder blush in 01 Romantic Rose: This is pretty much the perfect blusher for any make-up look. It’s matte, it delivers the perfect amount of pigment and it just looks beautiful on the cheeks.

dsc_0461

MAC Trip the Light Fantastic powder in Luna Luster: Initially I didn’t think I would purchase anything from the Star Trek collection, but I’m so happy that I decided to get this highlighter. Even though I’m a bit dissappointed the the cheap-feeling packaging the product itself is just gorgeous, and it has been one of my most worn highlighters this past month.

bridget-jones-online-image1

Bridget Jones’s Baby (film): I’m a huge Bridget Jones fan, so I was really looking forward to watch the newest addition to the Bridget Jones franchise. This film is just as good as the former two (which I’ve watched a million times); it’s so funny and sweet and I just loved it.

Comparison: LA Splash liquid lipsticks

DSC_9765

Finally I’ve been testing out three of the LA Splash liquid lipstick formulas. The colours and formulas I’ll compare are the Lip Couture in Ghoulish, the Velvetmatte in Flix n Chill and the Studioshine lip lustre in Catrina. You can see the colours on my lips below.

la-splash

The Lip Couture has a quite thin, liquidy texture and it dries completely matte as you can see in the picture. It is completely transfer/kiss proof, but it wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. It was really long lasting and very difficult to remove. You will have to use an oil-based make-up remover or actual cooking oil (which I used) to remove all of it. The Velvetmatte was not as thin and liquidy as the Lip Couture, but it still dries matte though with a more velvety finish as the name suggests. This one is also completely transfer/kiss proof, and as the Lip Couture it also wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. This one was long lasting as well, but I was able to remove it with regular make-up remover/cleasing water. The Studioshine lip lustre has a thicker more moussy texture and therefore very comfortable (the other two are not uncomfortable to wear, but the Studioshine lip lustre were the most comfortable one). It dries matte, but with a metallic finish as you can see in the picture. This one is also completely transfer/kiss proof, and just as the other two it wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. This one was also long lasting, and I was able to remove most of it with regular make-up remover, but I had to remove what was left with oil. In conclusion I like all three formulas, and the shade ranges are amazing. The only problem there is with all three of these is that they don’t layer well. After eating I would apply a bit more on mostly the inner part of the lips where the lipstick had worn off, and it quickly started to crumble on my lips, so I wouldn’t recommend touching up when you’re wearing these lipsticks. Apart from that I would still recommend all three formulas.

Collective drugstore haul

DSC_0205

I’ve been purchasing a few drugstore products recently, and I thought I would do a collective haul.

DSC_0213

My favourite purchase is the NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette which I featured in my 5 favourites from August. I highly recommend this palette! The shades are so gorgeous and I love having so many highlight options in one place; it’s so travel friendly. My favourite shade so far has been the second shade in the top row which is a beautiful light pinky shade.

DSC_0216

I purchased two more NYX products at the same time as the Strobe Of Genius palette; the HD Studio Photogenic finishing powder and the Slide On, Glide On, Stay On… (the name is so long) lip liner in Red Tape. The powder is a loose powder and has a very mattifying effect, but it doesn’t make your skin look dry. And you might know that my go-to lip colour is red, so I’m always on the hunt for red lip liners.

DSC_0221

I had heard good things about the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin powder foundation, so when I saw it was on sale, I had to try it out. I’ve only used it a couple of times, but so far I like it. I got mine in the shade 005 Light Beige.

DSC_0224

Lastly, I did some repurchases as well. The Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 HR foundations (both the full coverage one with the red lid and this medium coverage one with the white lid) are some of my favourite foundations and I always have at least one in my collection. I also repurchased the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator which is a much needed product when you are a matte lipstick lover.

5 favourites – August

I just realised in this moment that by tomorrow summer will be officially over. It’s a bit sad, but on the other hand I might be okay for me to start looking forward to Christmas then. August has been quite an eventful month for me, but I did have time to enjoy the last bits of my summer holiday. Uni started again this week, and even though I’ve enjoyed having some time off, it’s nice to be back. Anyways, here are my last favourites from this summer.

Lyseblå herre bomber jakke - second hand

Light blue bomber jacket: This second hand bomber has been my favourite piece of clothing this past month. I’m wearing it today, I wore it yesterday, I think I’ve worn it every week since I bought it. It’s just such an effortless piece and I’ve styled it in so many different ways.

DSC_9760

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel: I got this sample with my last Beautybay order and it’s probably the best brow gel I’ve tried. When you set your eyebrows with this, they stay in place all day.

DSC_0211

NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette: I haven’t gotten around to haul this palette yet (I will soon though), but I had to include it in my August favourites. These highlight shades are so beautiful and pigmented, and there’s a shade for every kind of make-up look.

Drake – Controlla (Old School R&B Medley) by Conor Maynard: I remember listening to some of Conor Maynard’s covers on Youtube many years ago, and about a month or so ago I rediscovered him. This cover/medley of songs is amazing. I don’t remember the last time I listened to a song on repeat like I did with this song in the beginning of August, and I’ve kept listening to it throughout the month. It’s so catchy!

Phillips Bluetooth højtaler 2

Philips wireless portable speaker: My youngest sister’s got one of these speakers, and I thought it was very handy, so I put it on my birthday wish list and was lucky enough to get it. I just connect it to my iPad via bluetooth, and the sound is really good. This past month I’ve been listening to even more music than I usually do because of this little guy.

First impressions: Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

DSC_0138DSC_0141

After only hearing and reading good things about the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, I finally purchased it. My first impressions of this product are that it feels really nice on the skin, smells nice and dries quickly. It claims to make your make-up last up to 16 hours, and I believe that to be true. The first time I wore it I had my make-up on for 12 hours. It was a warm day and I’d been biking (and therefore sweating) and my make-up still looked good at the end of the day. To sum up I’m for sure a fan of this product and would definitely recommend it.

Good Luck Trolls

DSC_0121DSC_0129DSC_0127

You might have noticed by now that I’m obsessed with limited edition MAC products. I’m especially obsessed with limited edition lipsticks and I consider them collectables, but as you might also have noticed I actually use them and don’t just keep them on display. When I found out about the Good Luck Trolls collection I was really excited, because the packaging looked so colourful and pretty, and I’m so glad I managed to get my hands on these products. Initially I only ordered one lipstick and a beauty powder, but then I swatched the other lipstick colours in store yesterday and bought one more.

DSC_0039

The lipstick I ordered online was this fun blue one. It’s called Midnight Troll and has a matte finish. It’s similar to Matte Royal from MAC’s permanent lipstick line, but Matte Royal is a bit darker and has a slight purple undertone. Midnight Troll is just straight up blue. And how cute is the name! All the names in this collection are spot on.

DSC_0123

The lipstick I couldn’t resist at the physical store yesterday was this beautiful shimmery hot pink. It’s called Dance Off, Pants Off (how amazing is that name) and it has a frost finish. This is my first frost finish lipstick from MAC, and I can’t wait to try it on. It’s funny how frosty and metallic lipsticks have become popular again.

DSC_0042DSC_0047

The product I knew I wanted as soon as I saw it was this gorgeous beauty powder. It’s called Glow Rida (another amazing name) and is a light shimmery beige powder. I wore it yesterday as my highlighter, and it was so beautiful. It’s quite a subtle highlighter, but you can definitely build it up which was what I did, and it just looks so gorgeous on the skin. This has to be my favourite packaging from the collection; that shimmery bright pink packaging is every make-up lovers dream.

5 favourites – July

July has come to an end, and it’s been really nice having some time off. I spent the past four weeks with my family, and now I’m back home (and by home I mean my home). It’s been really nice being on summer holiday (though I’m studying at the moment because I have an exam in a few days) and my holiday is not over yet (thank god). Btw, I created an instagram account today which is mainly going to be an extension of the blog. I’m @muchaluchas and there’s a link in my blogroll in the sidebar. But enough about that for now; here’s some of my favourite things from the month of July.

DSC_9701

MAC lipstick in Faux: I haven’t worn make-up that often this past month, because I’ve just been staying at my parents summer house, but most of the times I did wear make-up I wore this lipstick. It just the perfect neutral, ‘my lips but better’ shade for me.

DSC_9998

Morphe M510 brush: This is the best brush for highlighter I’ve tried so far. It’s fluffy and not too big, so it gives you a very precise application while blending out the product at the same time.

DSC_2253

Vintage Style – Sarah Kennedy: As I’ve probably mentioned before, I don’t read much on an everyday basis (other than for my studies), but I usually read a bit in my summer holiday, and this year I’ve been reading this book about vintage style. It has beautiful pictures of vintage style icons and gives you tips on how to get the style, and I’ve really enjoyed reading it.

2014_big_hero_6-wide

Big Hero 6 (film): As the huge Disney fan I am, it’s always exciting when I get to watch a Disney film I haven’t watched before. It was actually my mum who raved about this film, and I wasn’t disappointed. This film is great, and I can’t wait to watch it again.

DSC_9967

Glass cup with lid and straw: This is a bit of a random favourite. My youngest sister and I got these cups this summer and she made us water with lime (and lemon) and mint several times and it was such a great way of actually drinking water during the day + the cups are super cute.

5 favourites – June

Another month has come to an end, and I can’t believe how fast time goes by. June was probably the toughest month ever exam wise, but now I’m enjoying my summer holiday. I wish the warm weather would come back soon though. Anyways, before we jump right into July, here’s some om my favourite things from the month of June.

Sorte gladiator sandaler - Vagabond

Black gladiator sandals by Vagabond: In the beginning of June the weather in Denmark was amazing, and I think I wore these sandals everyday for week. I bought them a couple of years ago, but the Danish weather is rarely warm enough to wear sandals, so I hadn’t used them much until recently. I love them because they remind me of something the characters from Disney’s Hercules would wear, and Hercules is my favourite Disney film.

DSC_9702

MAC lip pencil in Soar: As I wrote here, I’d been wanting this lip pencil for so long, so when it was finally back in stock I purchased it, and I love it. It’s such a beautiful brown pink mauve colour that goes with so many different lip colours and it also looks gorgeous on its own.

DSC_9499

MAC Prep + Prime Fix +: Another MAC product I’ve loved this past month and that I’m sure I’ll continue to love is the famous Fix + finishing spray. I love that this product has several purposes; it makes your skin look and feel lovely, and it’s amazing for intensifying eye shadows.

DSC_6949

Marc Jacobs Honey perfume: I got this perfume about a year ago, and I’ve always loved it, but it’s been my go-to scent this past month because I find that it’s quite summery.

me before you

Me Before You (film): Ever since I first saw the trailer for this film, I knew I wanted to watch it. I went to the cinema with a friend two days ago to watch it, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was such a sweet film with lovely characters, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear (or two).
