5 favourites – September

Another month has passed, and I really can’t believe how fast time flies. September was all about Uni, and it won’t be long before my next exam. Weatherwise it has actually started to feel like autumn (we were blessed with a very warm first half of September), and even though I don’t enjoy the cold weather, I’m looking forward to be putting together autumn outfits. But before we jump further into the autumn season, here are some of my favourite things from the past month.

White sandals by VRS: Because the weather was so lovely in the first half of September, I got to wear sandals a lot. I’m so happy I bought these white ones in the end of August, because I’ve worn them a ton.

MAC eye shadow in Nylon: This has quickly become my new favourite eye shadow from MAC. It’s the perfect inner corner and browbone highlight, and I’ve worn it almost every day the past weeks.

Milani powder blush in 01 Romantic Rose: This is pretty much the perfect blusher for any make-up look. It’s matte, it delivers the perfect amount of pigment and it just looks beautiful on the cheeks.

MAC Trip the Light Fantastic powder in Luna Luster: Initially I didn’t think I would purchase anything from the Star Trek collection, but I’m so happy that I decided to get this highlighter. Even though I’m a bit dissappointed the the cheap-feeling packaging the product itself is just gorgeous, and it has been one of my most worn highlighters this past month.

bridget-jones-online-image1

Bridget Jones’s Baby (film): I’m a huge Bridget Jones fan, so I was really looking forward to watch the newest addition to the Bridget Jones franchise. This film is just as good as the former two (which I’ve watched a million times); it’s so funny and sweet and I just loved it.

Star Trek in action

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I had such a hard time doing my eyeliner (which is why I rarely do winged liner), so it’s far from perfect. I really like how my skin looks though; the MAC Trip the Light Fantastic powder in Luna Luster gives the skin a beautiful glow. The lipstick is awesome too.

Pretty, but sticky

dsc_0448dsc_0452

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I think this bright red lip is super pretty, but because of the creamy/glossy formula my hair kept sticking to it. I guess I just have to wear my hair up the next time I wear this lipstick.

MAC Star Trek

dsc_0480dsc_0483

I’ve never watched Star Trek, but I couldn’t resist these limited edition MAC Star trek products. Of course I purchased one of the lipsticks, and once again I purchased a highlighting product from a limited edition MAC collection.

dsc_0471

The highlighter is the Trip the Light Fantastic powder in the shade Luna Luster. I’m quite dissappointed in the quality of the packaging which feels very cheap, but as you can see the product itself is very beautiful and that’s what’s most important. It’s a peachy champagne colour and quite shimmery, but really pretty on the skin.

dsc_0479

The lipstick is called Kling-It-On and it has a frost finish. As you can see it’s a very unique shade; it’s described as a deep purple with fine pink glitter. It’s a bit sheer, but you can build it up to some extend. The next time I’m going to wear it I’ll fill in my entire lip with a lip liner and then apply the lipstick on top.

My go-to

dsc_0425dsc_0431

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m sure I’ve posted similar looks to this one before, but it is pretty much my go-to make-up look; cool-toned neutrals on the eyes and a bright red lip.

(Base: primer – Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me foundation (shade: 105 Natural Ivory), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powders – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shades: Banana + Vanilla) + Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed powder (shade: 001 Transparent). Face make-up: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shade: Fawn) + The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing powder (shade: 02 fair matte), blusher – MAC Mineralize blush in Modest Blush, highlighter – NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette (shades: 2). Comparison: LA Splash liquid lipsticks

DSC_9765

Finally I’ve been testing out three of the LA Splash liquid lipstick formulas. The colours and formulas I’ll compare are the Lip Couture in Ghoulish, the Velvetmatte in Flix n Chill and the Studioshine lip lustre in Catrina. You can see the colours on my lips below.

la-splash

The Lip Couture has a quite thin, liquidy texture and it dries completely matte as you can see in the picture. It is completely transfer/kiss proof, but it wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. It was really long lasting and very difficult to remove. You will have to use an oil-based make-up remover or actual cooking oil (which I used) to remove all of it. The Velvetmatte was not as thin and liquidy as the Lip Couture, but it still dries matte though with a more velvety finish as the name suggests. This one is also completely transfer/kiss proof, and as the Lip Couture it also wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. This one was long lasting as well, but I was able to remove it with regular make-up remover/cleasing water. The Studioshine lip lustre has a thicker more moussy texture and therefore very comfortable (the other two are not uncomfortable to wear, but the Studioshine lip lustre were the most comfortable one). It dries matte, but with a metallic finish as you can see in the picture. This one is also completely transfer/kiss proof, and just as the other two it wears off a bit on the inner soft part of the lips when you eat and drink. This one was also long lasting, and I was able to remove most of it with regular make-up remover, but I had to remove what was left with oil. In conclusion I like all three formulas, and the shade ranges are amazing. The only problem there is with all three of these is that they don’t layer well. After eating I would apply a bit more on mostly the inner part of the lips where the lipstick had worn off, and it quickly started to crumble on my lips, so I wouldn’t recommend touching up when you’re wearing these lipsticks. Apart from that I would still recommend all three formulas.

Metallic pink

dsc_0276dsc_0273

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. As I wrote in my recent haul I’ve become quite fond of metallic/frosty lipsticks and this hot pink one is so gorgeous!

(Base: primer – Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer, foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 HR foundation (shade: 100 Ivory), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powder – NYX HD Studio Photogenic finishing powder (shade: 01). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (shade: Sculpt) + The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing powder (shade: 02 fair matte), blusher – MAC Mineralize blush in Modest Blush + MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Warm Rose (as blush topper), highlighter – NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette (shades: 2 + 4). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Stila In the Light eye shadow palette (shades: Bare + Bliss + Sandstone + Kitten) + Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shade: Sand) on browbone, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Lips: MAC Talking Points lip pencil + MAC Dance Off, Pants Off lipstick)

One more beautybay haul

dsc_0517

You might have noticed that I’m quite fond of Beautybay.com, and here’s my most recent purchases from the webside.

dsc_0522

I was really stoked to find out that Beautybay now carries Milani. The two Milani products I’ve been wanting to try out the most are their powder blushers (also known as the rose blushers) and their baked blush specifically in the shade Luminoso. I think every beauty youtuber has talked about Luminoso at some point or another, so I wanted to see if it’s as good as people say. I haven’t tried it on yet, but I’ve swatched it and it looks gorgeous. For the rose blushers I chose the shade Romantic Rose and it’s the most beautiful pinky nude shade; the kind of blusher that goes with any make-up look. This one I’ve already worn several times, and I love it.

dsc_0527

Of course I had to pick up some liquid lipsticks. I have to admit that I’m quite into the metallic lip trend, so I decided to get one of the Milani Amore Mattallics Lip Créme. I chose the shade Raving Matte which is a beautiful purple. I also picked up two more L.A. Splash Lip Couture liquid lipsticks (in my last beautybay haul I promised to make an update post on the L.A. Splash liquid lipsticks and I will very soon); one is a green metallic shade called Rhea which is limited edition as far as I know and the other is in the shade Latte Confession which is a cult favourite and I can see why. It’s such a gorgeous deep nude shade (it’s actually really difficult to describe in detail) and I’ve already worn it twice. The last liquid lipstick I purchased is the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in the shade Ruby Slipper. It’s a deep red with red shimmer, and I’m really looking forward to see what it looks like on the lips.

dsc_0542dsc_0543

I puchased two more products from Gerard Cosmetics. I’ve been wanting the lipstick in London Fog for so long, and I’m really glad that I finally purchased it. It’s a grey with a purple undertone, and it’s such a cool shade (you can see me wear this and Latte Confession on my instagram @muchaluchas). The lip pencil is in the shade Underground and it’s a cool-toned grey nude. It’s a really nice lip pencil and I’ll probably check out the other colours at some point.

dsc_0546

Lastly, I searched the webside for a bright blue pencil eyeliner to go with my blue mascara by NYX, and I found this Full Spectrum eye liner pencil by Makeup Geek in the shade Cobalt. It’s a beautiful shade and it matches my mascara very well. The eyeko felt tip liner was a free gift with purchase.

Red lip focus

dsc_0240dsc_0239

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I think this red lipstick is absolutely gorgeous and I wanted it to be the focus of the look, so I decided to wear a very minimal, barely there eye make-up.

(Base: primer – L’Oréal Lumi Magique Pure Light primer, foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 HR foundation (shade: 100 Ivory), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + L’Oréal True Match concealer (shade: 1 Ivory), powder – NYX HD Studio Photogenic finishing powder (shade: 01). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush palette (shade: Light 373), blusher – the Balm FratBoy blusher, highlighter – NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette (shades: 2 + 7). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette (shades: Foxy + Tease + Verve + Bootycall), mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Lips: MUA Intense Colour lip liner in Red Drama + MAC Vermillion Vee lipstick)
