First impressions: MAC Prep + Prime Fix +

DSC_9499

About a month ago I did a first impressions post on the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion foundation and I thought I would make another one. This is not a new product, but it’s new to me. I’ve been wanting to try out MAC Prep + Prime Fix + (also known as just Fix +) for a really long time. I purchased it a little while ago, but I wrote down my initial thoughts. It’s a finishing spray and not a setting spray, so you shouldn’t expect it to make your make-up last longer. It does finishes off your make-up very nicely and makes your make-up look less powdery or cakey. It brings some moisture back to your skin and it feels and smells really good as well. So as a finishing spray it works very well. It’s also an amazing product if you want to intensify your shimmery eye shadows. Just spray a bit of the product onto your eye shadow brush, dip it in the eye shadow and apply it to you eyelids. I’ve been especially loving to use it to intensify my inner corner highlight. All in all, I love this product, and I think it’s a common opinion among beauty lovers.

5 favourites – May

The last month of spring has come to an end and by tomorrow it’ll be officially summer. Luckily, the Danish weather is amazing and very summery at the moment; too bad I have to be indoors most of the time to study for my exams. Anyways, I had quite a few favourites this month, but I managed to pick out five to share with you.

L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow foundation (shade: 01 Porcelain): I did a first impressions post on this foundation, and I still enjoy it. It’s actually the only foundation I’ve worn since I purchased it. It’s very easy to work with and it’s nice and glowy.

MAC Dunes At Dusk Gleamtones powder: This limited edition highlighting powder from MAC’s Vibe Tribe collection is so gorgeous. I’ve been wearing it a ton, and it’s quite different from any other highlighter I own, but so beautiful. Very summer appropriate in a way.

The Revenant (film): I had been wanting to watch The Revenant ever since it premiered, and I finally got to watch a few days before it stopped playing at the cinemas, and I’m so glad I did. It was a great film though very harsh, and it was beautifully shot. If I one day get the opportunity to watch again I definitely will.

Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake: I think a lot of you will agree with me when I say that Justin Timberlake is awesome. I’ve mentioned before that ‘N Sync is my all time favourite boyband, but JT has an incredible solo career as well. This song from the Trolls amimation film is so damn catchy, and I love it!

las-vegas-tattoo-photographer001

My first tattoo: My absolute favourite this month is my very first tattoo (no, it is not me being tattooed in the picture – it’s just a picture from Google Images). I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo since I was 15, and I’ve been wanting the specific tattoo that I got, since I was 16, and I’m so happy that I finally had it done. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, and I love it so much. I got the tattoo for me, and it’s one of a kind (unless someone else out there had the same strange idea), so I’m not going to show it to you (at least for now). I think it looks great, and I’m looking forward to having it on my body for the rest of my life.

First impressions: L’Oréal Cushion foundation

DSC_9386

I’ve been seeing cushion foundations everywhere online lately, so when I found the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion dewy glow foundation at the drugstore, I decided to give it a go. I’m going to give my first impressions of this product, and I don’t know if this will turn into a new series on my blog, but it might:)

I’ve been wearing the foundation for the first time today, so these really are my first impressions. First off, I love the packaging. It’s so cute, but also quite handy to travel with, I reckon. The compact contains a little flat sponge, but I used my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge to apply the foundation. I don’t think I’ve ever applied my foundation as easy and quick as I did this morning which is a big plus. As the name suggests the foundation is indeed very dewy and glowy (in the picture beneath I’m only wearing a none-illuminating primer and the foundation). I’m wearing shade 1 Porcelain which is the lightest shade, and I think it matches my pale skin well. Right now as I’m writing I’ve been wearing the foundation for about 10,5 hours. I’m obviously wearing other products (powders) on top, but as far as I can tell, the foundation still looks fairly good, so I’m happy with this product so far. As I’ve already mentioned these are only my first impressions, but I’m looking forward to wear this foundation a few more times to see if those impressions stick.

5 favourites – April

Yet another month has come to an end and we’re moving into the last official month of spring (I’m still waiting for the spring weather though). I want to enjoy May, because June will once again be all about exams. But let’s not talk about that right now. Instead, let’s talk about some things I’ve really enjoyed in the month of April.

DSC_9226

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Creamy Mattes gel-cream eyeshadow (shade: Crème De Rose 91): Back in November I compared this Color Tattoo to my beloved MAC Paint Pot in Painterly and found out that they were very similar, but I continued to use Painterly almost every day. This past month I would say I rediscovered this Color Tattoo and I’ve been really enjoying it. I still grab my Painterly Paint Pot more often, but I do really like this cheaper alternative.

DSC_8763

Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette: I’ve only been using this palette the second half of the month, but it has still been my favourite eye shadow palette this month. As I mentioned here I’d been craving this palette for years, and it really is an amazing product.

DSC_8929

NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette: Another palette I’ve been loving all throughout the month is this highlight and contour palette. I’ve especially been using the four middle shades (Soft Light, Cream, Toffee and Sculpt) a ton.

Gosh Groovy Grey neglelak

Gosh Special Edition nail polish (shade: 003 Groovy Grey): As much as I love colour (in any aspect of my life) there’s something about neutral nail polishes that I can’t resist. This shade is a mix between a nude and a grey, and I love it. I love it so much that I wore it two weeks in a row in the beginning of April.

25 – Adele (album): I’ve always thought Adele was a great singer, but her music never really caught my attention. That’s until she released her 25 album. This album is full of beautiful songs, and if I had to choose a favourite, it would be All I Ask. So amazing!

5 favourites – March

It’s the last day of March, my exams are over, and now I have a week off before my new courses start. Yay! March was a very busy month all about exams, so I’m really looking forward to April. I did manage to find some enjoyable things throughout March, and here are some of my favourites.

DSC_8899

Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15): I’d been waiting and waiting for the Maybelline Fit Me line to make it’s way to Denmark, just so that I could get my hands on the concealer in the right shade, and it was definitely worth the wait. This concealer is so good, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (10 Nude Mauve) lukket

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (shade: 10 Nude Mauve): Another product I’d been craving for the longest time. It’s such a pretty neutral blusher that looks great with any make-up look which is also why I’ve been wearing it a lot.

DSC_8898

Essie nail polish (shade: Brides No Grooms): Back in High school I wore hot pink nail polish all the time, but the last couple of years I think I’ve only worn hot pink on my nails a few times. I think that’s all going to change now that I have this pretty pink polish. I’m wearing it on some of my nails here, and I loved it so much that I wore on all my nails last week.

kitty powers matchmaker

Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker (iPad game): I don’t play that many games on my iPad these days, but after watching people on YouTube playing this game, I decided to try it out myself. I haven’t played it much that past couple of weeks, but I played a ton in the beginning of the month, and it’s a good bit of fun.

disney_cinderella_2015-wide

Cinderella (film): I’ve mentioned before (several times I’m sure) that I love anything Disney, so obviously I’ve been wanting to watch this film ever since it came out last year. I didn’t get the chance to watch it until a week ago, and it was so good. The fairytale is great in itself, but I also loved the cast and the gorgeous costumes. If you’re a Disney fan and you haven’t watched this yet, I really think you should.

Red haute

DSC_8590DSC_8584

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m wearing one of the H&M lipsticks and I really like it. It’s pigmented, long lasting and comfortable to wear. The vanilla scent does hang around for a while, but it’s not too bad. I’ve worn the other shade (the purple one) as well, and that one was a bit patchy which this red shade wasn’t at all, so it looks like there might be a bit of inconsistency in the line. But when that’s said I think they’re really nice lipsticks.

(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection (shades: White Chocolate + Salted Caramel + Semi-Sweet + Cherry Cordial + Marzipan) + MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade on browbone, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Lips: Rimmel Universal Transparent Lipliner in 001 Universal + H&M Matte lipstick in 215 Red Haute)

5 favourites – February

From tomorrow on it’ll officially be spring, even though the weather in Denmark states otherwise. I really wish that the weather would become warmer very soon. Not that I would have much time to enjoy it, since March is going to be all about exams. I can’t believe that I already have exams again. Anyways, my favourites from the past month consists of the two M’s; Make-up and Movies.

DSC_8515

Zoeva En Taupe eye shadow palette: I’m so glad I purchased this palette. It’s been my most used palette since I received it in the end of January. If you want to see what the shades inside the palette look like, you can check out this post.

DSC_8720

Makeup Geek blusher in Spell Bound: I was really excited about trying out Makeup Geek’s blushers, and I was not disappointed. The shade I’ve been especially loving is Spell Bound which is my go-to kind of blush shade.

DSC_8381

MAC lipstick in Von Teese: This has probably been my most worn lipstick this past month. It’s the perfect shade of red in my opinion and I love the matte finish. I’m wearing it here.

harry and sally

When Harry Met Sally (film): I’ve been wanting to watch this classic romcom for I don’t know how many years, and I finally caught it on TV a few weeks back. I really enjoyed it, and I see why it’s a classic.

snow-white-and-the-huntsman-1024

Snow White & The Huntsman (film): This is another film that pleasantly suprised me this month. I love that it has a twist on the original story about Snow White plus I won’t complain about a film which have both Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin in it:)

5 favourites – January

The first month of 2016 has come to an end. January has been pretty much the same since I started at Uni. I think this year January has been particulary tough; I had three exam and no holiday because my new courses started last Monday. I’m really tired of the stormy, rainy weather, and I’m in general really looking forward to spring. But we have one more official month left of winter, and I hope it’s going to be a good one. Before jumping into the last winter month, here’s some of my favourite things from January.

Sorte natbukser m. snefnug

Black pyjama bottoms with snowflakes from H&M: I bought these pyjama bottoms the same day that I bought these items, and they came in really handy, when I fell ill while I was writing an exam paper. They are the most comfortable thing I own and they’re so warm.

DSC_8527

MAC eye shadow in All That Glitters: This is one of the eye shadows I got for Christmas and I have been wearing it a ton. Most times I’ve been wearing it together with my MAC Satin Taupe eye shadow which has been my go-to eye shadow look this month.

Sleek palet åben 2

Sleek Face Form contouring and blush palette – bronzer/contour shade: I rediscovered the bronzer/contour shade in this little Sleek palette. I haven’t had much time to do my make-up this month, and I definitely didn’t have time to both contour and bronze, and this powder is the perfect in-between.

bourne

The Bourne trilogy (films): Earlier this month I watched The Bourne trilogy with my dad. I’ve been wanting to watch these films for a while, and I thought they were great. They’re the kind of films where you have to pay attention to keep up, but that’s usually what makes a film interesting.

Come Away With Me – Norah Jones (album): I got this album for Christmas (it was on my wishlist) and it’s pretty much the only thing I’ve been listening to in January. There’s not one song on the album that I don’t like. It’s from 2002, but I think it’s timeless if you like this kind of music.

True match vol. 2

True Match 1

I recently bought the new L’Oréal True Match foundation, because I had heard good things about it. I wasn’t so keen on the original one, but I thought I would give this one a go. I got the shade 1.5 N which is a good match for me. I had the old one in shade 1, and it was too light and too pink on me. So far I like this new version of the True Match foundation better than the old one, but I’ve still tried foundations I like more. It’s a very glowy foundation, so if you don’t like glowy skin, this is not for you. I happen to be really into glowy skin at the moment, so I like that about it. I also repurchased the L’Oréal True Match concealer in shade 1 which I love for my under eye area.

Comparison: drugstore clear brow gels

I don’t go anywhere without setting my eyebrows with some clear brow gel (we can’t have those brow hairs flying around). I’ve been using the e.l.f. Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara for years and I love it, but when I had almost run out of the one I was using, I thought why not try another clear brow gel. I picked up the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting brow mascara in Transparent and wore the two brow gels at the same time; one on each eyebrow.

DSC_3222Maybelline Brow Drama

Both brow gels kept my eyebrows in place all day, but I did fell like I had to check up on the Maybelline one every now and again. I find the e.l.f one more stiff than the Maybelline one which I prefer. The wand on the Maybelline one is a bit strange as well (it’s like a ball), so overall I prefer the e.l.f. one. The Maybelline one is not bad; I just think the e.l.f. one is better (and it’s cheaper too).
