Comparison: affordable eyelid primers

til blog

I mentioned when I bought the e.l.f. Eyelid Primer that I would do a comparison of it to another affordable eyelid primer, the other eyelid primer being the MUA Pro-Base Eye Primer. Both products are very affordable (the MUA one is £ 2,50 and the e.l.f. one is £1,95). I’ve had the MUA primer for quite a while and I initially didn’t like it and hadn’t used it in a while, so I thought I would compare to the e.l.f. primer. In the two pictures to the left I’m wearing the MUA primer as my base, and in the two pictures to the right I’m wearing the e.l.f. primer as my base. On top I’m wearing my The Body Shop Eye Colour in 07. When I first applied the primers and eye shadow to my eyelids they looked quite similar as you can see in the top pictures, but then after approximately 8 hours you can definitely see a difference. The MUA primer creased and the eye shadow looked uneven whereas the eye shadow on the eye where I used the e.l.f. primer looked pretty much the same as when I first applied the product. After comparing the two, I still don’t like the MUA primer, and I was very impressed by the e.l.f. one + it’s a tiny bit cheaper, so I would definitely go for that one! I got the e.l.f. eyelid primer in the colour Sheer, but it comes in three more colours as well; Pearl, Champagne, and Golden.

I really enjoyed making this type of post, so I might do some more comparisons of products in the future:)

Cranberry love

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m wearing my MAC Cranberry eye shadow and I’m in love. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and so pigmented.

(Eye make-up: base – Maybelline Color Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate (70), eye shadows – MUA Ever After matte eye shadow palette (shades: Chino) + MAC Cranberry eye shadow + Sleek Vintage Romance eye shadow palette (shade: Lust in LA) + Stila All Over Shimmer Duo highlighter (lightest shade on browbone), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate matte lipstick in 105)

5 favourites – January

I can’t believe that the first month of 2015 is over by tomorrow. It was a tough month with exams, and this week uni started again, but it was a good month as well. I just occured to me that I’ve been doing these 5 favourites posts for a whole year now, and I’m definitely going to continue doing them. So without further ado, here’s my first favourites of 2015.

DSC_5634

Maybelline Color Tattoo Gel-Cream Eyeshadow (colour: 35-On and on Bronze): I’m so glad that this Color Tattoo finally came to Denmark, because it’s gorgeous. It looks beautiful on its own, but it’s also a perfect base for bronze/gold/brown eye shadow looks.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer (colour: 02 Fair Matte): This bronzer is the perfect matte bronzer for fair skin. Especially for everyday use where you might not want a too heavily bronzed face. I would definitely recommend this stunning product.

Pernille Corydon gold leaf earrings: I’ve been wearing a lot of gold jewellery this month (to match my go-to eye make-up) and these earrings that I got for Christmas has been my favourites. I love how simple and pretty they are, and I’ve worn them so much.

Turbie Twist

Turbie Twist: I didn’t learn about the existence of the Turbie Twist until last Autumn, but I was definitely intrigued. Luckily, I got a two-pack on my gift advent calendar, and I think they’re genius. If any of you haven’t heard of the Turbie Twist, it’s a super-absorbent hair towel. I find it very lightweight and perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to wait for your hair to dry.

Kongens Have – TopGunn: I have a very different favourite song this month. I don’t listen to a lot of Danish music and especially not hip hop and dancehall. The reason I got to listen to this particular song was because the Danish rapper and producer Topgunn was to be one of the judges on Denmark’s Got Talent. I knew him by name, but I wasn’t very familiar with his music, so I went on to Youtube and listened to a bunch of his songs, and the only one that caught my attention (and which I did recognise) was Kongens Have. I find it quite different from his other songs which I’m not very fond of, but there’s something about this one that made me listen to it over and over again this past month. I think it’s the melody and I like the use of e.g. brass instruments.

Gorgeous combo

I know I’ve posted a similar make-up look not too long ago, but this has been one of my go-to looks recently. I just think a bronze eye paired with a berry lip is a gorgeous combo.

(Eye make-up: base – Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze (35), eye shadows –  Barry M Natural Glow Shadow & Blush palette (shades: 2 + 3 + 5 + 6), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain in 005 Crush)

Real Techniques is back

DSC_5373DSC_5375

I had no idea that Real Techniques had found its way to Denmark, but as soon as I found out I picked up the Miracle Complexion sponge and the Stippling brush. I love the Miracle Complexion sponge; I’ve used it to apply my foundation every single day since I bought it. I bought the Stippling brush, because I wanted to experiment more with cream blushers, and so far I like this brush as well. There’s a couple of more brushes that I would like to add to my collection, so I might pick those up some other time.

Oh magenta

I know you’ve seen a couple of magenta eye looks on the blog before, but I just love that type of colour. I’m especially satisfied with this look, and if you like magenta shades you have to get your hands on the Sleek Vintage Romance eye shadow palette! The colours are absolutely gorgeous.

(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Sleek Vintage Romance eye shadow palette (shades: Marry in Monte Carlo + Honeymoon in Hollywood) + Stila In the Light eye shadow palette (shades: Bliss + Kitten) + Stila All Over Shimmer Duo highlighter (lightest shade on browbone), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain in 001 Honey)

Plum grand

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I really like the subtle plum shades on the eyes and I think the pinky nude lips are a good match.

(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – MAC Keepsakes Plum Eyes eye shadow palette (shades: Subtly Elegant + Plum Grand + Shadowy Lady + Sensibility), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Lips: ModelCo Illusion Nude Lip Liner + Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in 006 Pink Blush)

Brush and bronze

DSC_5348DSC_5353

I bought these three amazing products in the beginning of the month. I’ve been wanting these items for so long, and I’m really glad that I finally bought them. The brush is a MAC 217 which is probably the most famous MAC brush. It’s a great brush for applying and blending eye shadow. The bronzer is The Body Shop Honey bronzer which I’ve been swatching in stores so many times, and I can’t believe I didn’t purchase it sooner. I got the shade 02 and it’s the perfect matte bronzer for fair-skinned girls like me. And last but not least the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze finally came to Denmark, and I had regretted not bying it when I was in England, so I had to pick one up, and I love it.

Smokey blues

DSC_5205DSC_5212DSC_5216

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I don’t wear blue eye shadows that often, but I think these smokey blues looked quite nice.

(Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – MUA Ever After matte eye shadow palette (shades: Fade + Fog) + Rimmel Glam’eyes HD quad in 003 Royal Blue (shade: 3) + Stila All Over Shimmer Duo highlighter (lightest shade on browbone), mascara – Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Collection 2000 Kohl Eyeliner Precision Colour in 20 Kingfisher. Lips: Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain in 001 Honey)

Organisers

DSC_5472DSC_5471

These are my last two Christmas presents. I know I wrote the other day that I only had one last present to show you, and that’s the Clear Makeup Organiser in the first picture, but I bought the Twin Organiser with some money I got for Christmas, so I guess it’s a Christmas present too. Both organisers are by Nomess Copenhagen, and I think they’re such a nice way of storing make-up and cotton pads + cotton buds.
