5 favourites – October

October has come to an end which means that in only one month it’ll finally be December. October was a very busy month for me; I’ve been working hard on my master’s thesis and I also went on a choir trip to Helsinki. In November my main focus will definitely be my thesis, and I’m pretty sure that December will be here in no time then. But first, here are some of my favourite things from the month of October.

Bordeauxrøde 'herre'sko - Duffy

Burgundy Oxford style shoes by Duffy: I bought these shoes years ago, but I hadn’t really worn them much. I started wearing them more this year, and this past month I’ve been wearing them a lot. I love the dark burgundy colour and the chunky soles.

Belsac taske (second hand)

Warm beige shoulder bag by Belsac: I bought this bag at a second hand store in July, and I decided to bring it with my to Helsinki earlier this month. It was the perfect sized bag for a 5 day trip, and as I’ve mentioned before I love the colour and shape of it.

Juvia’s Place The Saharan eye shadow palette: I expressed my love for this palette in my last post. It’s so gorgeous, and I’m really looking forward to play around with it even more.

FunnyGirl-W

Funny Girl (film): I’d been wanting to watch this film for ages, and I finally got to this month. I started watching it in Helsinki with one of the girls from the choir, and then we watched the rest in Helsinki and Riga airport respectively on our way back home. I already new and loved the music, and Barbra Streissand and Omar Sharif did such an amazing job portraying Fanny Brice and Nick Arnstein.

A.C. Perch Afternoon te

A. C. Perch Afternoon blend tea: When my mum visisted me in the beginning of October, we went to a beautiful tea house and had delicious tea, scones, and petit fours. We tried two different types of tea and our favourite was the Afternoon blend which we purchased a bag of each to take home, so I’ve been drinking a lot of it since.

First impressions: Juvia’s Place The Saharan palette

I don’t buy new eye shadow palettes very often, but I’d heard so many good things about the Juvia’s Place eye shadows, so I had to try them out and thought I would share my first impressions with you. I chose to purchase The Saharan palette, because I was so drawn to the beautiful autumnal colours.

As you can see on my arm swatches, the pigmentation of the shadows is amazing and very consistent throughout the entire palette. The palette contains four matte shades and eight shimmery/metallic shades. The shadows have minimal fall-out and they are very blendable.

Juvia's Place The Saharan

Picture 1 was taken shortly after I’d applied the eye shadows. I’m wearing the following shades: Katsina, Bororo, Fula, and Iman. The day I wore the eye shadows for the first time it was raining, but the water didn’t ruin the eye shadows. Picture 2 was taken about 12 hours later (excuse the oily skin) and the eye shadows still looked great and they hadn’t creased. The eye shadows was easily removed with regular eye make-up remover. To sum-up, this palette is just as good as people say. I’ve used it a ton since these pictures were taken, and if you love beautiful warm-toned eye shadows, you should definitely try out this palette.

Shades of purple

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I decided to go with shades of purple to match the top. I’m wearing my favourite purple lipstick, which is just the most gorgeous colour.

’90s inspired

Here’s what I wore Thursday September 14. I haven’t experimented with the ’90s inspired cami top over a T-shirt or a long sleeve top trend too much, but I really like the look.

(Skirt + cami top + long sleeve top – H&M, boots – Monki)

Navy blue lips

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I hadn’t worn a navy blue lip in ages, and I thought it would be perfect with the outfit.

A lot of silver

DSC_3513DSC_3512

Here’s what I wore Wednesday September 13. I find this silver bomber quite difficult to style, but I think it looks nice over a classic striped button-up shirt. I also love the silver sneakers paired with grey glitter socks.

(Bomber – H&M, jeans – Monki, shirt – second hand, belt – Asos, socks – VRS, sneakers – Missguided)

Princess Cut + The Saharan

DSC_3674DSC_3690DSC_3702

I’ve been wanting the Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Princess Cut ever since it came out, and when Beautybay.com had a Jeffree Star Cosmetics sale a little while back, it was the perfect reason for me to finally buy it. Beautybay.com also recently started carying the brand Juvia’s Place, and I’ve heard so many good things about Juvia’s Place eye shadows, so I decided to treat myself to one of their eye shadow palettes. I chose The Saharan palette, which is the perfect autumn/winter palette, and I’ll be making a ‘first impressions’ post on it soon.

Peachy orange

DSC_3472DSC_3473

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. The shirt has a lot of colours, so the lipstick options were endless. I chose to wear a peachy orange lipstick, because that’s a shade I don’t wear very often.

(Base: primers – e.l.f. Blemish Control Face Primer + Wet n Wild CoverAll primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15) + L’Oréal True Match concealer (shade: 1 Ivory), powders – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shades: Banana + Vanilla) + Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless pressed powder (shade: 90 Translucent). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Jeffree Star Beauty Killer eye shadow palette (shades: China White + Courtney) + Sleek Highlighting palette in Solstice (shade: Equinox), mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows – e.l.f. Colourful shirt

DSC_3487rediDSC_3486redi

Here’s what I wore Tuesday September 12. How amazing is this shirt! I love all the colours and patterns. I decided to do a very simple styling of it and paired it with my light blue kick flare jeans and black boots.

(Jeans – H&M, shirt – second hand, boots – Truffle Collection)

Stick to pink

DSC_3458DSC_3460redi

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I decided to stick to pink for a very girly look, even though I could have incorporated some of the other colours from the stripes on the top. Maybe I’ll wear a more colourful make-up look the next time I wear this top.

(Base: primers – e.l.f. Blemish Control Face Primer + Wet n Wild CoverAll primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15) + L’Oréal True Match concealer (shade: 1 Ivory), powders – NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (shades: Soft Light + Cream) + Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless pressed powder (shade: 90 Translucent). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Benefit Hoola bronzer, blusher – MAC Sugar or Syrup powder blush, highlighter – MAC Nutcracker Sweet Peach Face Compact Extra Dimension skinfinish in Tutu.
