5 favourites – August

August was some month. The weather was so hot throughout most of the month, I had a birthday and Covid (at the same time might I add – not very fun), and I definitely started to feel the weight and tiredness of being in the third trimester of pregnancy. But thankfully, I only have two more work days left before my maternity leave begins, and I can’t wait! I’m really looking forward to slowing down in September, and I’m going to try to enjoy the last bit of my pregnancy. Even though August was tough in many ways, it also had some good moments, and I discovered a lot of favourites as well. As always, I did manage to narrow them down to five, so let’s talk about them.

Pastel coloured tie dye Teva sandals: I love my multicoloured Teva sandals that I purchased last year, so I decided to get another pair this summer, and I’ve loved these ones as well. Teva just makes such comfortable sandals!

Oden’s Eye Solmåne II eyeshadow palette: I posted my first look using this palette yesterday, but there’ll be more looks to come, because I’ve really enjoyed using this palette. The colour story is so pretty, and the quality is great. I’m going to keep an eye on Oden’s Eye from now on.

Pat McGrath Labs Dark Star mascara: I’ve received a lot of mascara samples as free gifts with purchases, and it’s a great way of trying out new mascaras and especially more expensive ones. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been using this Pat McGrath one, and I love it! It’s too bad that it’s so darn expensive.

This Is Us (TV series): The one good thing that came out of me having Covid earlier this month was that I finally had time to start watching ‘This Is Us’, which is a series I’ve been wanting to watch for a while. I was intrigued from the very first episode, and I’m almost done with season two now. I’m really happy that there are six seasons in total, because I’m not done learning about the Pearsons.

Apple AirPods: I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be and AirPods person, but I got a pair for my birthday, and I’ve already used them a lot. I also think they’ll come in handy when the baby comes; wires and babies are probably not a great match.

Solmåne II

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’ve got my first ever Oden’s Eye haul coming up in little while, and I used the Solmåne II eyeshadow palette for this look and my next two make-up looks, and I’m very impressed by the quality of the palette.

Flash storm

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m obsessed with cream shadows and fun, sparkly duochrome/multichrome shadows at the moment, and the KVD Beauty Dazzle Stick long-wear eyeshadow in Flash Storm, which I purchased recently, ticks both of those boxes.

(Base: primer – Essence Prime + Studio Multi-Action + Protecting primer, foundation – L’Oreal Infaillible 24H Fresh Wear foundation (shade: 015 Porcelain), concealers – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory) + Nars Radiant Creamy concealer (shade: Vanilla), powders – e.l.f. Essence Jurassic World collection

Essence released a Jurassic World collection around the time of the release of the third Jurassic World film, and since I love dinosaurs and the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World trilogies, I obviously had to pick up this collection.

The three make-up products in the collection was an eyeshadow palette in 01 Have A Raw_some Day!, a highlighter in 01 Extra Crispy, and a Ph-reacting lip glow in 01 Runnn!.

The palette is a cute little 8-pan palette with a half neutral half colourful colour story. I wore the palette here, which was actually on the day I went to watch Jurassic World: Dominion at the cinema.

The highlighter is very cute as well. It might look a little dark for fair skin tones, but it did work on me. It was just a more natural highlight.

I’m always a little sceptical when it comes to Ph-reacting lip products, but this one is probably the prettiest one I’ve tried so far. On the lips, it turns into a very pretty glowy pink, and it leaves a very nice stain behind.

The collection also came with a bunch of tools. I picked up the makeup sponge in 01 Bingo! Dino dna. I haven’t tried it yet though.

I also got the two face brushes; the highlighter brush in 01 Must Be A Fast Runner! and the powder brush in 01 Stay In The Car!.

Lastly, I purchased the eye brush set & makeup bag in 01 Bigger, Louder, More Teeth!. I think Essence makes really nice, affordable brushes. And these are just so pretty too. I love the packaging on the whole collection, but pink and orange is one of my favourite colour combos, so that might have something to do with it.

Blue and a bit of lilac

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. Instead of going with an all blue eye look, I added a bit of lilac to match the pops of lilac in my outfit.

(Base: primer – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless primer, foundation – L’Oréal Paris True Match Nude plumping tinted serum (shade: 0,5-2 Very Light), concealers – Maybelline Superstay Active Wear 30H concealer (shade: 05 Ivory) + L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powder – e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow setting powder. Face make-up: bronzer – Milani Silky Matte Bronzing powder in Sun Light, blusher – bareMinerals Gen Nude Blonzer in Kiss of Pink, highlighter – MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Soft Frost. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – By BEAUTY BAY Midnight 42 Colour Palette (shades: Dream + Lilac + Bingo + Potion + Gleam) + MAC Extra Dimension foil eyeshadow in Cooler Than Being Cool, mascara – Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, eyeliner – NYX Faux Whites eyeliner in Lavender Blush. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze + Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown. Lips: MAC Boldly Bare lip pencil + MAC Love Me lipstick in Sakura Szn)

Silvery blue glitter

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. When I was going to do my make-up for this blue outfit, I instantly thought of this stunning silvery blue glitter eyeshadow from the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde eyeshadow palette. I hadn’t used that palette in quite a while, so I had a lot of fun playing with it again.

A bit of mint and muted red

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. A bit of mint and muted red to match the top and the kimono I wore that day.

(Base: primer – Essence Fix & Last Make-up Gripping Jelly primer, foundation – e.l.f. Cosmetics Camo CC Cream (shade: Fair 120N), concealer – NYX Bare With Me concealer serum (shade: 02 Light), powders – Essence Brighten Up! Collective haul (May)

It’s time for my collective haul from May. This haul consists of clothes, shoes, and make-up. Let’s begin with the clothes.

I purchased four dresses from Monki, and I’ve already posted outfits with all four. Monki has been my go-to non-maternity brand throughout my pregnancy, because they make a lot of loose and/or oversized clothes especially dresses. Also, Monki is one of my favourite brands in general; they have the best prints and colour combos.

The only other piece of clothing in this haul is this pair of pleated trousers, which is also from Monki, and I’ve also posted an outfit with these already.

I featured these violet Crocs in my last 5 favourites post with a mix of different Jibbitz. I purchased some of the Jibbitz (the bottom two sets) at the same time as the Crocs, and some of them I already had. I also purchased two sets of Disney Jibbitz, which are now decorating my black Crocs sandals that I use indoors.

Let’s move on to make-up. The main reason why I keep buying the I Heart Revolution X Disney Fairytale palettes is the packaging. However, this Tangled one is actually not bad. I really liked the look I created with this palette.

Next up is a mix of different products. I got the Essence Fix & Last Make-up Gripping Jelly Primer and the MAC Wild Cherry Pro Palette Eye Shadow X 2. I thought the little MAC palette would be nice for travelling. I also picked up two highlighters; the Catrice Glow Lover Oil-Infused highlighter in 010 Glowing Peony and the Pixi + Hello Kitty Glow-y Powder in Sweet Glow.

Here’s a closer look at two highlighters. They are both pinky shades and very pretty.

Essence recently launched a bunch of new gel nail colours, so I picked up a lot of shades; 17 I Lilac You, 23 Tangerine Ahead, 27 Hey Sand Tropez, 34 Love U So Mocha, 41 Violet Voltage, 45 Lavender Vibes Only, 48 Squeeze The Day, and 49 Save Water drink Lime.

Lastly, I picked up a few things from Beauty Bay.

I picked up the new By BEAUTY BAY Bright 2.0 16 Colour Palette. There are also 42 and 9 colour versions, but I liked the 16 colour one the best.

I also purchased another e.l.f. Cosmetics Putty blush. This is in the shade Fiji, and it’s a beautiful red shade.

And then I got my first two products from About-Face. I picked up the Light Lock Highlight Fluid in Fight Or Flight and the About-Face Light Lock Stick in Frenzy. It was love at first application with the liquid highlighter; it’s so stunning! I also like the highlighter stick, however, it’s very glittery, so I don’t think it goes with all make-up looks. But it is pretty nonetheless.

Second Beauty Killer 2 look

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I had so much fun doing this make-up look. I wanted to play with the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Beauty Killer 2 palette again, and I love how different this look is from the first look I created with the palette.

(Base: primers – Essence Catching Clouds Cloud-touch Mousse Primer in 01 Up On Cloud + I Heart Revolution x Elf collection primer, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealers – Rimmel The Multi-Tasker concealer (shade: 020 Fair) + Fenty Beauty Bright Fix Eye Brightener (shade: Golden Ivory), powders – Essence Brighten Up! Banana powder in 10 Bababanana + Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder in 0 Neutral. Face make-up: bronzer – Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Bronzer in Sun Kissed, blusher – e.l.f. Cosmetics Putty blush in Bora Bora, highlighters – Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Highlighter in Pink Diamond + About-Face Light Lock Stick in Frenzy. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Jeffree Star Cosmetics Beauty Killer 2 palette (shades: Respect + Under Oath + Rebirth + Guillotine Dream + Blow Up Doll), mascara – Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, eyeliner – NYX Faux Whites eyeliner in Seashell. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze + Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown. Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liner in Sandstone + Natasha Denona I Need A Nude lipstick in Charlotte)

Match the stripes

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I had a lot of fun trying to match my eyeshadow to the green stripes in my dress, which are quite a specific shade of mint. I think I did a pretty good job with the matching though.

(Base: primer – e.l.f. Cosmetics Blemish Fighting Putty primer, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealers – Rimmel The Multi-Tasker concealer (shade: 020 Fair) + NYX Born To Glow radiant concealer (shade: Pale), powder – e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow setting powder. Face make-up: bronzer – Physicians Formula Butter bronzer (shade: Light), blusher – NABLA Skin Glazing in Lola, highlighter – Natasha Denona Super Glow in 1 Fair. Eye make-up: base – Milani eyeshadow primer in 01 Nude, eyeshadows – By BEAUTY BAY Earthy 42 Colour Palette (shades: Snow + Fresh + Frost) + By BEAUTY BAY Midnight 42 Colour Palette (shade: Shield) + MAC Nylon eyeshadow, mascaras – Essence Volume Booster lash primer + Maybelline Colossal mascara + MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash mascara, eyeliner – MAC Powerpoint eye pencil in Mistletoe Mint. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze + Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown. Lips: NYX Slim lip pencil in Plush Red + MAC See Sheer lipstick)
