5 favourites – February

February always go by so quickly. Probably due to the fact that it’s the shortest month, but also because I have a week long holiday in February, which is always lovely. February was a month of ups and downs, but the things in this post is definitely worth talking about, so let’s do just that.

NABLA Skin Bronzing (shade: Ambra): I haven’t hauled this bronzer yet, but I have featured it in a couple of make-up posts. This bronzer has a slight glow or sheen to it, and I’ve been really liking that in a bronzer. The shade of this is also beautiful.

Clinique Cheek Pop Pearl blushes: I love the original Clinique Cheek Pop blushes, but I think I might love the new pearl version even more. I first purchased the shade 05 Ruby Pop (top left corner), and I’ve worn that shade so much these past four months or so. Then I decided to pick up three more shades, and they’re just as stunning.

Essie nail lacquers: I always wear nail polish, and of course I’ve known about Essie, but I’d only tried a few polishes from the brand many years ago. However, recently I’ve been purchasing a handful of Essie nail lacquers, as they’re called, and I’ve been loving every single one. I don’t think I’ve worn another brand throughout February. My favourite shades have been the bright red called Bunches Of Love (I’m wearing that one right now, but I’ve also worn it before), the pink with a gold shift called One Way For One, and the super sparkly orange one called Cupid’s Beau.

Pam & Tommy (TV series): I have both a TV series favourite and a film favourite this month. Let’s start with the series. As soon as I first saw the posters for this series, I was intrigued. At first glance, I thought that Lily James was actually Pamela Anderson until I took at closer look. The costume designs of this series are incredible. I was born in the early 90’s so I don’t remember the incident with the tape, but I remember some of the 90’s in generel, and the mid-90’s are represented so well. I’ve also found it really interesting to learn about this incident and the lives of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee at this time, so I find this series to be an overall enjoyable watch.

Spiderman: No Way Home (film): I’m a huge Spiderman fan, so I’ve been wanting to watch this film ever since it released. However, the pandemic put a stop to that for a while, but I finally got to watch it during my holiday. If you love the previous Spiderman film series with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as much as I do, you’ll love this one.

Cocopanda haul (mainly Essence)

My last haul was an all Catrice haul, and this haul consists mainly of Essence products. What can I say, I just really like Essence and Catrice.

Once again I’ve tried to group the products together, and let’s start with a face mist and a primer. I picked up the Hello, Good Stuff! Herbal face mist and the Prime + Studio Multi-Action + Protecting primer. I loved the Hello, Good Stuff! 3in1 face mist with watermelon extract, and I’ve used it all up, so I’m excited to try this version. And I’ve liked most of the Prime + Studio primers, so I decided to give this one a go as well. I haven’t tried it enough times to form a proper opinion on it yet though.

Next, let’s talk brows and eyes. I picked up the Brow Styling Soap Set, which comes with a little spoolie, and I also picked up the Soft Touch eyeshadow in 01 The One. My favourite eyeshadow to use to set my eye base/primer is the Essence eyeshadow in 05 Granny Pants, but it’s been discontinued, so I’m looking for an alternative for when I’ve used that one up. This Soft Touch eyeshadow is a bit more white than I would like, but I’m of course going to give it a go.

Speaking of eyeshadow I’ve been seeing these little 6-pan palettes everywhere online, and I think they’re so cute; I love the colour stories and the sleek packaging. I picked up the following three palettes; Ice, Ice Baby!, Dancing Green, and I Like To Mauve, It Mauve It!

Here’s what the palettes look like on the inside. I’ve done looks with all of them, and I think all looks turned out very pretty.

And now on to lips. I picked up three lip products. I got the Cool Collagen plumping lipstick in the shade 201 My Dream, the Hydrating Nude lipstick in the shade 301 Romantic, and the Peppermint Glow lip balm. I haven’t tried the lip balm yet, but both lipsticks were quite pretty.

The last two products in this haul are not from Essence, but from L’Oréal, and they’re both back-ups of two of my favourite base products; the L’Oreal Paris Infaillible 24H Fresh Wear foundation in 015 Porcelain and the L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer in 322 Ivory.

Catrice haul (September)

It’s not often when I post a drugstore/affordable make-up that all products are from the same brand, but all the products in this haul are from Catrice and I purchased these products back in September 2021.

I’ve tried to divide the products in to smaller categories, and I wasn’t quite sure what to group these two products with, so I grouped them together. I picked up the Fix & Protect Spray which has SPF 20, blue light defense, and it’s supposed to be hydrating. I haven’t tried it yet, but I thought it might be good in the summer. I’d already tried the Camouflage Cream concealer, so I decided to pick up the Ultimate version. I think they’re quite similar, so I’ve decided to only keep this one.

My favourite and most used product in this haul is definitely the All Matt Shine Control powder Healthy Look in the shade 100 Neutral Fresh Beige. It’s not matte as the name might suggest, but it has this beautiful, soft, natural glow to it, and I love that. I would say that it’s a very nice affordable alternative to the Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder, which I absolutely love. The blush is the Blush Box Glowing + Multicolour in the shade 030 Warm Soul. I think I’ve only worn it once so far, but I remember it to be pretty.

Then I picked up two bronzers from the Holiday Skin line. The Holiday Skin Serum bronzer only comes in one shade (010 Escape To The Beach), and it’s too orange on me, so I’ve already decluttered it. The Holiday Skin Luminous bronzer comes in two shade, I think, and I’ve got the lightest shade called 010 Summer In The City. I’ve worn this a few times, and I think I like it so far.

Lastly, I picked a couple of lip balms. The first one is the Lip Cushion Protecting Multi Balm in 020 Wake Up Your Lips, which I’ve got on my vanity, if I need something nice and hydrating for my lips. And I haven’t tried the Peppermint Berry Glow lip balm in 010 Mint Me, Berry You yet, but I was intrigued by the name, so we’ll see if I like it or not.

Neutral eyes and muted red lips

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I went for a pretty, neutral eye look to match the neutral colour scheme of my outfit, but added this stunning, muted red lipstick to break up all the neutrals.

(Base: primer – Urban Decay All Nighter face primer, foundation – L’Oreal Paris Infaillible 24H Fresh Wear foundation (shade: 015 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powder – Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder in 0 Neutral. Face make-up: bronzer – Hourglass Ambient Lighting bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light, blushers – Essence The Blush in 10 Befitting + Clinique Cheek Pop Pearl blush & highlighter in 05 Ruby Pop, highlighter – Huda Beauty Glow Obsessions Light highlighter palette (1. shade 1. row). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina eyeshadow palette (shades: Base + Incense + Passion + Summer + Dreamer) + MAC Nylon eyeshadow, mascara – MAC Magic Extension mascara, eyeliners – MAC Teddy + Powersurge eye kohls. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze + Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown. Lips: Urban Decay Gwen Stefani 24/7 Glide On lip pencil in 714 + Soda #talkofthetown lipstick in 006 Your Mood)

Brights or pastels?

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. How fun and colourful and bright is this look? It’s a perfect match for my pastel outfit.

(Base: primers – NYX The Marshmellow primer + MAC Strobe Cream (shade: Pinklite), foundation – e.l.f. Cosmetics Camo CC Cream (shade: Fair 120N), concealers – e.l.f. 16HR Camo matte concealers (shades: Light Sand + Fair Warm), powders – Revolution Eye Bright setting powder + MAC Prep + Prime Transparent finishing powder. Face make-up: bronzer/contour – Natasha Denona Contour Sculpting Powder in 01 Light, blusher – Dior Backstage Rosy Glow blush in 001 Pink, highlighter – BY BEAUTYBAY Pride powder highlighter in Parade. Eye make-up: base – Milani eyeshadow primer in 01 Nude, eyeshadows – BH Cosmetics Lost In Los Angeles palette (shades: The Abbey + Dreamer + City of Angels) + Revolution x Bratz Jade palette (shades: Lookin´Good + Like My Outfit? + Coolness), mascaras – Essence Volume Booster lash primer + Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High mascara, eyeliner – NYX Vivid Brights eyeliner in Love. Eyebrows: Soda #wowbrow Flat Brow Liner in Kim + NYX Brow Glue Intant brow styler. Lips: MAC Shock Value Pro Longwear lip pencil + MAC Doo-Wop lipstick)

Tempting Fate on face

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I used some of the products from the MAC Tempting Fate collection for this look, and I liked all of them. I mean, look at the glow on my cheekbones from the Strobe Face Glaze!

(Base: primer – Essence Skin Lovin’ Sensitive primer, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealers – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory) + Essence Camouflage+ Healthy Glow concealer (shade: 10 Light Ivory), powders – e.l.f. HD powder in Soft Luminance + Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder in 0 Neutral. Face make-up: bronzer – Catrice Holiday Skin serum bronzer in 010 Escape to the Beach, blusher – Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in 01 Fuego Flush, highlighter – MAC Strobe Face Glaze in Punk In Spice. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Essence eyeshadow in 05 Granny Pants + Huda Beauty Topaz Obsessions palette (shades: 1. shade 1. row + 2. shade 3. row) + MAC Eyeshadow x8: Feast Your Eyes (shades: All That Jam + What A Pear + Velvet Vamp + Feast Your Eyes), mascara – L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara in Moonlight Noir/Black Navy, eyeliner – MAC Cobalt Kohl eye kohl. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze + Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown. Lips: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour lip liner in Allegedly + Lime Crime Unicorn lipstick in October)

MAC Tempting Fate

The 2021 autumn collection from MAC was the stunning Tempting Fate collection. The packaging of every single product in this collection is gorgeous, and the shades of the products are beautiful as well. Let’s take a closer look at the individual products.

The palette in this collection is called Eyeshadow x8: Feast Your Eyes. The shades are beautiful, and they come in three new (I think) finishes; Sparkler, Leather Lustre, and Prismetallic. However, the shades are printed in an incorrect order on the back of the palette, which is quite annoying. The right order was on the website back when the collection launched, but it was all a bit confusing.

I decided to pick up one of the eye kohls. This one is in the shade Cobalt Kohl, which is a pretty good description of the colour, I must say:) I wish that bottom of the pencil was the same colour as the actual pencil instead of being lilac. It’s just a lot easier to see what the colour is that way.

The Strobe Face Glaze was a part of the MAC summer 2020 collection, and I thought it was a beautiful product, so I had to pick up one of the Strobe Face Glazes from this collection as well. I chose the shade Punk In Spice, which might look like a darker orangy shade in the tube, but it’s not that dark at all, when you apply it to the face.

I decided to pick up three of the lipsticks. The shades are Burnished Beige (the warm nude), Tarnished Reputation (the burned terracotta orange), and Dusty Grape (the deep burgundy). Aren’t they just beautiful?

The last product I picked up from this collection was the 224S brush, which is a lovely eye blending brush.

Lastly, as a free gift with my order I got the Extended Play Gigablack mascara, which I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I’ve seen people mainly use it on the lower lashes, because is has such a small, skinny brush, and it does work perfectly for that purpose.
