My first Benefit

dsc_1062dsc_1064dsc_1068

When I was in the Netherlands last month I obviously did a bit of shopping. Besides the products I’m going to talk about now I also bought some great products at the drugstore, but I’ll tell you more about those in a separate post. Today is all about Benefit. I’ve been wanting to try out Benefit’s products for so long, and when I saw this set I had to go for it. It contains the POREfessional primer, Hoola bronzer, Roller Lash mascara and a sample of Gimme Brow brow gel. I’ve heard/read lots of good things about all of these products, so I was/am excited to try them out. I haven’t used the POREfessional primer that many times yet, but it feels nice on the skin and so far I like it. I’m loving the Hoola bronzer which was one of the items I wanted to try out the most. It’s really pigmented and the colour is perfect. I haven’t tried the Roller Lash mascara yet, because I want to finish up the mascaras I’m using at the moment, but this was the other product I wanted to try out the most, so I’m really excited to see if it is as good as people say. The Gimme Brow is a tinted brow gel in the shade 3 medium which is a great shade for me. I’ve used it when going out to add a little extra something to my brows and I really like the way it looks. If you haven’t tried out any Benefit products I think this set is the way to go.

Metallic green

First impressions: MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara

My beloved Maybelline The Falsies mascara has sadly been discontinued, so I’m on the hunt for a new favourite mascara. When I received this MAC sample with an online purchase, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out and see if I liked it.

first-impressions

Right off the bat I have to say I really like this mascara. I think it looks great on my lashes and it layers well (I’m wearing two coats on my top lashes). It has a bristle brush which I like and it is very black as you can see in the pictures. It was somewhat easy to remove from my eyelids without ruining my eye shadow and there was minimal transfer. All in all a very good mascara in my opinion and I might consider buying the full size some time.

Cool-toned neutrals

dsc_0939dsc_0938

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. A simple cool-toned neutral look. As much as I love bright colourful lipsticks I find a grey-toned lipstick like the one I’m wearing in these pictures very beautiful as well.

(Base: primer – Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powders – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shades: Banana + Vanilla) + Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed powder (shade: 001 Transparent). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shade: Fawn) + The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing powder (shade: 02 fair matte), blusher – Milani powder blush in 01 Romantic Rose, highlighter – NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette (shades: 7). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette (shades: Foxy + Tease + Suspect + Snakebite) + MAC Nylon eye shadow, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. MAC Nutcracker Sweet

I’m always excited about MAC’s Holiday collections, and this year I was not disappointed. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, and the products are beautiful, so I thought I would show you what I decided to pick up from this year’s collection.

dsc_1185dsc_1206

Obviously I had to have one of the lipsticks, and I chose this beautiful deep purple shade called Leap of Delight. It has a matte finish, and I love how it matches the packaging.

I also decided to get one of the Magic Dust powders. I chose the shade Yum Yum Yum which is a pretty pink with gold shimmer. It looks beautiful on the skin, and look at the stars in the actual powder! So gorgeous.

Lastly, I had to get my hands on one of the face compacts. Even though the Copper one was the most hyped one (do to the fact that the highlighter in it is the popular Whisper of Gilt) I decided to get the Peach one because it contains the lighter shades. I wouldn’t say that there’s anything peach about it, but I love it none the less. The Extra Dimension Skinfinish (highlighter) is called Tutu and the Extra Dimension Blush is called At Dusk and both powders are stunning.

The season for dark lips

dsc_0909dsc_0901

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’ve been wearing a lot of dark lips lately, and this one actually looks even darker in real life. That’s one of the things I love about autumn; wearing beautiful dark lipsticks.

(Base: primer – Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powders – NYX HD Studio Photogenic finishing powder (shade: 01) + Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed powder (shade: 001 Transparent). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush palette (shade: Light 373), blusher – Milani powder blush in 01 Romantic Rose, highlighter – MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection (shades: White Chocolate + Milk Chocolate + Cherry Cordial) + MAC Nylon eye shadow, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Lips: Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte liquid lipstick in Ruby Slipper)

First impressions: Maybelline Master Strobing Stick

dsc_1029

As I mentioned here, I’m going to share my first impressions on the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick with you, so here goes. As far as I know this product comes in two shades; I have the lighter one which is 100 Light Iridescent. As I wrote in the haul, I’m not that used to wearing cream highlighters, but this seemed like a very easy and quick product to use which it is. I’ve only worn on bare skin so far (not on top of foundation) and it applied very easily. I applied it straight from the stick and blended it out with my fingers which worked very well. All in all it’s very easy to use and it looks beautiful on the skin. It gives a more natural highlighted look compared to many powder highlighters, but for days where you want to wear natural and minimal make-up this product is great. I’m sure you are able to use it as a base for your powder highlighters as well to make you highlighter pop even more.

More grey

dsc_0874dsc_0871

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I decided to go with all grey for my make-up to match the grey (and blue) outfit.

(Base: primer – Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer, foundation – Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation (shade: 51 Light Vanilla), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powders – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shades: Banana + Vanilla) + Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed powder (shade: 001 Transparent).  Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shade: Fawn) + The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing powder (shade: 02 fair matte), blusher – MAC Mineralize blush in Modest Blush, highlighter – NYX Strobe Of Genius illuminating palette (shades: 7). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette (shades: Foxy + Tease + Verve + Pistol) + Nars Silver Factory illuminator on browbone and inner corner, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – MUA Intense Colour eyeliner in Snow White. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Lips: Rimmel Universal Transparent Lipliner in 001 Universal + MAC Halsey lipstick)

Back-up, new, sample

dsc_1000dsc_1009

It’s been over year since I purchased my first MAC Pro Longwear concealer, I’ve used it almost every day since, and there’s still some product left. Not much product though, so I needed to buy a back-up, so I wouldn’t run out of it. I ordered it online, and I thought I would purchase my first MAC powder blush as well. I’ve heard so many good things about the powder blushers and I’m not disappointed in the shade I got. I decided to get Desert Rose which was on top of my MAC blusher wishlist. It’s described as soft reddish-burgundy and it has a matte finish. I thought it would be the perfect autumn/winter blusher and it really is. During the month of October you would get a free mascara sample with every online order, and it’s a sample of the Zoom Fast Black Lash. I’ve been using it quite a bit and I really like it. I’ll do a first impressions post on it within the next few weeks.

Light nude

dsc_0850dsc_0838

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. It’s not very often I wear a nude lip this light, but I really liked it with this look.

(Base: primer – L’Oréal Lumi Magique Pure Light primer, foundation – Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation (shade: 51 Light Vanilla), concealers – MAC Pro Longwear concealer (shade: NC20) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 15), powders – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shades: Banana + Vanilla) + Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed powder (shade: 001 Transparent). Face make-up: contour/bronzer – Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush palette (shade: Light 373), blusher – Milani powder blush in 01 Romantic Rose, highlighter – MAC Trip the Light Fantastic powder in Luna Luster. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eye shadows – Stila In the Light eye shadow palette (shades: Bare + Bliss + Sunset + Sandstone + Kitten) + Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Light to Medium (shade: Sand) on browbone, mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Lips: Essence lipliner in 11 In the Nude + NYX soft matte lip cream in Stockholm)
