First impressions: L’Oréal Air Volume Mega Mascara

It has been a couple of years since the last time a made a first impressions post on a mascara, and it was on the L’Oréal Paradise Extatic mascara (it’s now called Lash Paradise in Denmark as well), which has been my favourite mascara ever since. However, when I saw the ad for the newest L’Oréal mascara called Air Volume Mega Mascara I was intrigued. I’ve tested it, and now I’m going to share my first impressions with you.

The mascara has a rather chunky wand with short brush hairs, but it’s really easy to use. The mascara claims to give your lashes mega volume while it feels light as air, and I believe that to be true. I think my lashes look both long and voluminous, and they didn’t feel heavy at all. The day I tested the mascara, I wore it for 10 hours, and it didn’t flake. However, it did transfer a bit unto my eyelids shortly after application, but pretty much all mascara transfers a little on me + it’s very common with a brand new mascara. A think a mascara is best after it’s been opened for a little while. The mascara was very easy to remove with regular eye make-up remover. So all in all, my first impressions on the L’Oréal Air Volume Mega Mascara were very good, but I would just like to mention that it just gets better and better with time, and it has quickly become one of my new favourite mascaras, and it’s not often I say that.

Monochromatic red always works

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. Red monochromatic make-up looks always works whether it’s all bright reds or all darker burgundy reds as in this look.

Advent calendar + Christmas presents

December is (sadly) long over, so it’s about time that I get around to showing you some of my advent calendar presents from my mum and some jewellery Christmas presents.

Let’s start with the few christmassy things. On December 1 actually, I got the cute reindeer/christmas tree jumper from Julesweaters that you’ve already seen me wear. And another day I got some cute and fuzzy christmas socks from H&M.

And now on to some beauty bits. I got two Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection brushes. The top one is the 200 Oval Shadow brush, and the bottom one is the 300 Tapered brush.

I also got these two lipsticks on my advent calendar. The MAC lipstick is the Pretty Punk lipstick in the shade Glamour Of Punk. It’s not a shade I would typically wear, but I’ll give it a try. The other lipstick is the Urban Decay Vice lipstick in the shade Cherry. It was released along side the Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette. I wore this lipstick the other day, and I really liked it.

And now; jewellery. I got this Turquoise Stripe Trollbeads glass bead as my last advent calendar present on Christmas Eve. The rest of the jewellery were Christmas presents.

I got two more Trollbeads for Christmas. I got the Pink Diamond bead from my grandfather, and the Holly Bushes bead from my parents.

I also got this beautiful gold ring with multicoloured zircons by Sif Jacobs from my parents. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

This might be my favourite Christmas present. I’d been talking about putting a Pandora x Disney charm bracelet on my wishlist several times, but I ended up not doing it and I regretted it. However, my sweet boyfriend bought one for me anyways and chose the snake chain bracelet with the sparkling Mickey Mouse lock, which was my favourite! He also got me the Minnie Mouse & Mickey Mouse Kiss charm, which couldn’t be more perfect.

Unexpected pairing

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. For some reason, bronzy eyeshadow and purple lips go very well together. It’s an unexpected pairing, but it somehow works. At least I think so.

Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: MAC Night Crawler lip pencil + MAC Evening Buzz lipstick)

Purple eyes and nude lips

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’ve worn quite a few versions of a purple eye with a nude lip over the past couple of months, and there’s a reason why; it just looks so pretty.

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer,  foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: Jeffree Star Velour liquid lipstick in Mannequin + Jeffree Star The Gloss in Shane Glossin’)

Black Friday collective beauty haul

This is going to be my last Black Friday haul, and it’s a small collective beauty haul.

I’ve been wanting to try out the Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil highlighter for so long, and I thought getting the Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb Baby – Travel Set would be a great way to do so. It comes with a mini version of the Diamond Bomb highlighter in the shade How Many Carats?! and a mini Gloss Bomb in the shade Fu$$y, which is a shade I didn’t already own. I wore the highlighter for the first time yesterday, and it sure is blinding and also quite glittery. I might have applied a little too much, but I did like the glass like finish of it, and it didn’t ruin the make-up underneath, eventhough it has a jelly-like texture.

I had seen ads about the L’Oréal Air Volume Mega Mascara and was intrigued. I won’t say anymore about it now, because a first impressions post on it will be coming up.

You have probably noticed how much I love coloured eyeliner pencils for my waterline, and NYX usually doesn’t disappoint when it comes to this category of make-up. These are the Epic Wear Liner Sticks, and I picked up the shades (from top to bottom) Emerald Cut, Cosmic Yellow, Pink Spirit, Frosted Lilac, and Periwinkle Pop.

The last product in the haul is not make-up, but a skincare product. I’ve been using the The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash for several months now, and I really like it, so I thought I would give Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask a go. It’s a gel type formula that you apply to your face before you go to bed, leave it on overnight, and wash it off the next morning. I’ve only used it a few times so far, but I really should use it more often to give it a fair shot.

Prefer this version

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I wore a similar make-up look in December which was actually inspired by this look that I wore in October. I think I prefer this October version.
