MAC Black Box mystery box

Around New Year’s MAC sold a Black Box mystery box. Two of the items were not a mystery. I knew it contained an In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash mascara (full size) and a Brow Set (full size). Then it was supposed to contain two full size mystery items and three mini mystery items + a make-up bag. I received an e-mail before I got the parcel that they were out of the make-up bags, so I got a 25% off code to use on MAC’s website at some point. I’ve tried to use the code, but it didn’t work. Also, I only received two mini mystery items, so I didn’t have the best experience with this mystery box. However, I only paid the price of the mascara and the brow gel, so the other four products I got for free, which is pretty good.

One of the full size products I received where one of the limited edition Extra Dimension Foil eyeshadows from the 2020 holiday collection. I already own three of the five shades from this collection, and luckily I got one of the two shades I didn’t already have. This is the shade Sparktacular.

The other full size product I received was the Powder Kiss lipstick in Werk, Werk, Werk, which I do already own, but I really like this lipstick, so now I have a back up.

The two minis I received was two lipsticks. They’re in the shades Twig (satin finish) and Whirl (matte finish). I didn’t own any of these shades beforehand, and I really like both of them. I especially like Whirl, which is a really pretty brown shade.

Old go-to look

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I pulled out my Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette (the first one) and created this simple, neutral look that used to be one of my go-to eye looks years ago. I actually think it’s a really pretty look, and it looks great paired with a bright red lip.

My least favourite bite size

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I’m wearing another e.l.f. Bite Size eyeshadow quad (I’m wearing the blue one here), and of the ones I’ve tried, this rosy one is my least favourite. I don’t think the pigmentation is as good as in the other Bite Size palettes, but the look still turned out fine. I guess it’s just not my favourite colour scheme.

(Base: primers – Wet n Wild Photofocus face primer matte + MAC Strobe Cream (shade: Pinklite), foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. First impressions: Milani Eyeshadow Primer

It’s been a long time since I’ve tried a new eyeshadow primer. For the past many years I’ve pretty much only been using my MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly as my eyeshadow primer/base, but youtuber Emily Noel keeps talking about the Milani Eyeshadow Primer, so I wanted to see if I loved it too.

I decided to do a very colourful eye look to really test the eyeshadow primer. The primer comes in a sqeezy tube, and when it first came out of the tube it was very oily. I applied it with my fingertips, and it was a bit sticky but also slibbery at first, but it dried down to a light, sheer nude colour. When I applied my first eyeshadow all over the lid (a matte nude colour), it created some creases on my eyelids, which I obviously wasn’t happy with. But when I applied the colourful eyeshadows on top the creases did smooth out, which is great of course. The top picture was taking right after I finished my make-up, and the bottom picture was taking about 12 hours later, and as you can see, my eyeshadows looked so great at the end of the day. You can barely see any difference; the shadows stayed pigmented and vibrant all day without creasing. When I first applied the Milani eyeshadow primer, I had my doubts, but when I got past the oily, sticky stage and actually started to apply my eyeshadows, I discovered how great of an eyeshadow primer this is. And it’s affordable too. I’ll probably forever continue to use my MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, but this drugstore alternative stays in my make-up collection, and I’ll definitely continue to use it.

Only one palette

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I often use more than one eyeshadow palette for my eye make-up, but here I decided to only use the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette, and I managed to create a look that matched my outfit perfectly.

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer + Jeffree Star Magic Star Setting Powder in Fair. Bronzer – Milani Silky Matte Bronzing powder in Sun Light, blusher – MAC Prism powder blush, highlighter – Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil in How Many Carats?!. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde eyeshadow palette (shades: Momentum + Crash + Libra + Hot Mess + Ultraviolet + Supermoon), mascara – L’Oréal Air Volume Mega mascara, eyeliner – NYX Epic Wear Liner Stick in Frosted Lilac. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: NYX Slim lip pencil in Nude Truffle + MAC Cold Hard Cash lipstick)

Orange, yellow, red

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I don’t think I’ve ever paired an orange and yellow eye look with a red lip, but the colours matched the flowers on my jumper, and I actually really like how these three colours look together.

(Base: primer – Wet n Wild Prime Focus Primer Serum, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealers – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory) + Maybelline Fit Me concealer (shade: 05), powders – e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer + Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying powder in 021 Transparent. Face make-up: bronzer – Maybelline City Bronzer in 100 Light Cool, blusher – MAC Good Health, Great Wealth powder blush duo (shade: Modern Mandarin), highlighter – MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Postmodernist Peach. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Jeffree Star Jawbreaker palette (shades: Virgin + Lemon Drop + Jawbreaker) + Jeffree Star Mini Breaker palette (shade: Orange Crush) + MAC Goldenrod eyeshadow, mascara – L’Oréal Air Volume Mega mascara, eyeliners – NYX Vivid Brights eyeliner in She Bang + NYX Epic Wear Liner Stick in Cosmic Yellow. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. MAC Moon Masterpiece

Chinese New Year was just over a month ago, and MAC has created another beautiful limited edition collection in celebration of the holiday. This year’s collection is called Moon Masterpiece, and I purchased three products from the collection.

I don’t think MAC releases enough blushes in their limited edition collections, but when they do, they’re usually super pretty. This is the powder blush duo in Good Health, Great Wealth which consists of two permanent shades; Melba (top shade) and Modern Mandarin (bottom shade). I didn’t have either of those shades in my collection already, so I think it’s nice to have them in this limited edition packaging.

Last year’s Lunar New Year collection from MAC contained the most stunning Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Double Gleam with a dragon design that quickly became one of my favourite highlighters (Double Gleam is a permanent shade btw). This year they did an equally stunning Extra Dimension Skinfinish with a fish design. It’s also the Double Gleam shade, so I’m going to keep this one untouched. I usually buy make-up to use it, but this was just too beautiful to pass on even though I already have the shade in my collection!

The last product I bought was of course a lipstick, and the lipsticks in this collection are the Powder Kiss lipstick formula that I’ve been loving lately. I picked up the shade Turn Up Your Luck which is a beautiful bright red, which is right up my alley.

Beautiful shimmers

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. I used the Essence Disney Princess Snow White palette for the first time, and I was quite impressed. I love Essence as a brand, but the quality (mainly the pigmentation) of their eyeshadow palettes varies a lot, but so far I think this is one of the best palettes I’ve tried from Essence. The shimmers in the palette are beautiful.

(Base: primers – Wet n Wild Photofocus face primer matte + MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Illuminating Base (shade: Radiant Yellow), foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer + Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying powder in 021 Transparent. Face make-up: bronzer – Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r – Instant Warmth bronzer (shade: Inda Sun), blusher – Essence The Blush in 10 Befitting, highlighter – MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Double Gleam. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – Essence Disney Princess Snow White palette in 02 My Prince Will Come (shades: Forrest Cabin + Pure Hearted + Cheerful + Happy End + Green Wood) + MAC Nylon eyeshadow, mascara – L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara, eyeliner – MAC Studio Chromagraphic pencil in NC15/NW20. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: NYX Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely A Turn On Waterproof, Extreme Color lip liner in Red Tape + MAC Powder Kiss lipstick in Werk, Werk, Werk)

Monochromatic berry

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. Since my outfit was mainly black and white (apart from the denim jeans), I had endless colour options when it came to my make-up, so I chose to do a monochromatic berry coloured look, and I think it’s really pretty.

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer, foundation – Maybelline Dream Urban Cover foundation (shade: 100 Warm Ivory), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer + Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying powder in 021 Transparent. Face make-up: bronzer – Physicians Formula Butter bronzer (shade: Light), blusher – Essence Bloom Baby, Bloom! blushlighter in 01 I Lilac You!, highlighter – Ofra Cosmetics x Nikkietutorials Glazed Donut highlighter. Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – NikkieTutorials x Beautybay pressed pigment palette (shades: Basic Trut + Slasher + Ivy) + Huda Beauty Amethyst Obsessions palette (shades: 1. + 3. shade 1. row), mascara – L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara, eyeliner – Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in 07 Infinite beige. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: MAC Nightingale lip pencil + MAC Sí, Sí, Me! lipstick + MAC Star Memoir lipglass)

First powderkiss

Here’s the make-up I wore with this outfit. It was the first time I wore one of the MAC Powder Kiss lipsticks, and I’ve been obsessed with the formula since. I even featured them in my 5 favourites post from February. Even though this was the first shade I wore, after wearing all the other shades I own of these lipsticks, this might be the shade I’ll be wearing the least. It is really pretty, but it’s just not a kind of lipstick shade that I wear that often.

(Base: primer –  e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer, foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (shade: 110 Porcelain), concealer – L’Oréal Infaillible More Than Concealer (shade: 322 Ivory), powders – e.l.f. HD Undereye setting powder in Sheer + Jeffree Star Magic Star Setting Powder in Fair. Face make-up: bronzer – MAC Radiant Matte bronzing powder (shade: Beige-ing Beauty), blushers – Essence Satin Touch blush in 20 Satin Love + Wet n Wild Hello Halo blushlighter in Highlight Bling (blush shade), highlighter – Wet n Wild Hello Halo blushlighter in Highlight Bling (highlight shade). Eye make-up: base – MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, eyeshadows – BH Cosmetics Naughty shadow palette (shades: Meringue + Secret Santa + Balsam + Mistletoe + Very Merry + Ho Ho No + Snow Day), mascaras – L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara + L.A. Girl Volumatic mascara (shade: Purple), eyeliner – NYX Slim eye pencil in Lavender Shimmer. Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim pencil in Medium Brown + e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara. Lips: NYX Suede Matte lip liner in Cannes + MAC Powder Kiss lipstick in Stay Curious)
